Just because they didn't meet your expectations does not mean it was a bad year

You can tell who the new age iowa state fans are here...
It was actually a let down year coming off a fiesta bowl win the year prior and returning basically all of your production.

I would say it was a bad year in terms of preseason expectations, for sure.

Finishing 4th in the big 12 and going 7-5 (Pre bowl game vs CLEMSON) is not considered a bad season especially in Iowa State standards
What a horrible take. 2021 was the most disappointing season in the history of ISU FB. If we had taken care of business and won 10-11 games, we would be in a great position right now. Now we will be lucky to beat Ohio in two days. You need to capitalize on your opportunities or they pass you by.

Anybody know how long Remsburg is out? No excuse just curious.

I think our young backfield and TE group have potential. Campbell made the move he needed to turn our offense around ( o line coach )and I think they're probably good enough to be a bowl team.

I agree the WR group doesn't look competitive. I'm going to wait a couple weeks to decide if that's scheme or talent. Regardless, you need a consistent line to run the routes that will get you chuck yardage.
6 games I believe

How do you know this?

Is Remsburg projected to fit in at Lt tackle when he returns? If so, he should be an upgrade. Yes? I would hope so.

We could use him this year. He's been out so much, injury, etc.

Imagine watching 2 to 3 more years of this.

Did you enjoy McDermott's time at ISU?

I want Campbell to get his act together and try different things now.

Let the offense have some actual fun. Make the game interesting to watch.

Be unpredictable and creative.

If he isn't willing to do that, are you really fine with paying him $8 to $12 million dollars for more of this?
I would like to see us be less predictable and more creative, no argument there. I'm sure he has his reasons. And his scheme is a bit hard to watch at times.

Let's resume this argument about mid-season next year to see if it is still happening and what our record is.

I too, am worried that we might fall behind other teams if we don't do as you (and others say). I also can remember when weren't even in the game at kickoff, many of them!

This is where the good will comes in.

There is deserved criticism for how the offense has performed but also A LOT of over-reacting.

However, it was a little depressing listening to CW and Blum’s pod on Wednesday saying “if we can get to 20 I think we win. Now can they can get to 20 is the question”

I’m sorry but we should not be hoping to score 20 against Ohio in year 8 to win.

It was kind of awkward when CW was scrolling through on his device and hardly acknowledging what Blum was saying a few times.

#5 in this ranking from NCAA...

True, I did see that one. A couple other sports sites had it around #8.

It was largely top 10, so the general point stands. Definitely 7-6 qualifies as falling well short of expectation.

Speaking only for myself, I knew maintaining the rank or something close would not be an easy task for a full season - or if it was still top 20, would involve some ups & downs (plenty of top 10 teams drop from lofty preseason level). I anticipated a little slide. But since it's rare for ISU to be in that territory historically, it was even more frustrating to wind up close to .500. Not like we're even top 20 preseason routinely.

Yes and when you get ahead in the first half, like during the UNI game, you keep your foot on the peddle. No Mr NICE guy (Campbell). Keep working in new offense plays during the game and keep scoring. Saving anything offensively is just a weak position, IMO. Also, I think we do have the players to score 20+ every game. Of course one does need to have some juice in the offensive playbook. Years ago the HC in Iowa City call the juice exotics. Campbell leans vanilla, especially having lost so many close games in the last few years, realizing he is NOT achieving his mantra " winning in the margins".
You forget what it was like under Earl Bruce: Off tackle right. Off tackle right. Off tackle right Off tackle right, then the trick play Off tackle LEFT.

Why does everyone keep bringing up the only coach in modern Iowa State football with three eight-win seasons in a row. Yes, let's keep attacking him to divert the discussion. That same guy who holds the record for the largest margin of win over Iowa and did it with a back-up QB no less.

Would Earle Bruce be classified as a great ball control coach if he went 4-7 in 1977 and 1978 after one magical season in 1976??

When do Clyde Williams and A.W. Ristine start to get criticized for their low output offenses that somehow magically won games?
