Can we get a QB sneak installed in this offense?

The other issue is that CMC has yet to put together a road grater line. If ISU could blow guys off the line then sure, lets snap it in shotgun, hand off and ugly them up in the trenches. ISU hasn't show the ability to consistently do that under CMC. I don't like their odds of holding up at the point of attack for more than a few seconds in a crucial spot.

This actually might be the reason we go shotgun. They know the line is weak and would just get pushed back anyways. Our best chance is running back momentum.

How do you run a QB sneak without the ability to move the LOS though?

Simple, you have the lineman cut down their splits, you have the QB under center, with 2 backs behind him. You then go on a quick count, and have the two backs shove him forward.

Last night I watched Iowa do it repeatedly and gain 5 and 6 yards on sneaks. Its a play you have to practice, and use it.

My point being is that they just need a burst at the snap to get 6 inches with a 200 lb QB pushing away as well. ND has a good D-line, id rather not give them an extra 1.5 seconds to stand our guys up in that situation while Hall is just getting the ball.

Yes but only out of shotgun because Manning is an idiot

Two points I'm sure that they use to defend against going under center. They never do it so the potential for a bad snap is higher, and it's obvious we are sneaking because we never run under center.

I still think it's stupid to not do it.

I'm not sure I've seen an under center sneak since 2009

At ISU or in general?

I see it quite often from lots of teams.

The playcalling is stupid, but so is ISU taking their sweet time with motion, fake calls, time outs, etc. and then run something that's long developing.

Get up to the line.
Snap the ****ing ball.
Go forward.

A remotely decent Oline would help this as well.

He has had 4 years to put together a decent line. This is 100% on Matt. 4 years is enough to have a decent line.

For whatever reason the OL recruiting has been a huge struggle under Campbell. I know that first year he just couldn't get the guys he really wanted, so he settled for a couple guys that never panned out. CPR left him with less than nothing. Only had one guy with a start on the OL his first year, and he got hurt. In his second year he took a couple grad transfers that decided not to come, and a couple HS guys that left after a year.

I think he has some of a foundation now, but it is a huge challenge to start from ground zero.

I don't disagree, wasn't an improved Oline talked about as why Campbell was a good hire? Honestly it's mind boggling to me how bad our Olines have been. I see it as a development issue. I played Oline, it's not a hard position to be decent at with strength and technique. You don't have to be a world beater to not suck.

On a lighter note, when the Clones got stuffed I picked something up indiscriminately in a fit of rage and hurled it. For the life of me I can't find anything out of place around the house though....I have no idea what I grabbed and launched into the other room. o_O
Hopefully it wasn't that crusty old Metallica shirt... You know what I'm talkin' about.
