20 wins means nothing anymore as far as the NCAA tourney goes. I heard the other day that something like 100 teams won 20 games last year. K-State won 23 and went 10-6 and didn't get in.

Either way, we've got a looong way to go still before we even consider an NIT bid, IMO.

With 20 wins, we do get in. But not because it is 20 wins. 10-6 in the Big XII would mean a top tier conference finish, which would get us in.

The Big XII is the toughest conference this year. From top to bottom, just about all the teams are very good (maybe with the exception of Colorado). No patsies. A couple teams could have very nice runs in the tourney.

Actually, finishing in the top half of the conference would be a real accomplishment alone.

Step away from the kool-ade....

You don't agree that it's the toughest conference or that we get 20 wins? Because I never said we would get to 20!

In fact, we could very well have a better team than last year and have a worse record, given the strength of the conference in 07-08.

I don't beleive that the Big XII is the toughest conference or that 20 wins would get us in. IMO we would need at least 23, especially since 1 won't count when the comittee looks at it.

OK, whatever. I'm not sure how bad you must think the conference is if you don't think the Big XII gets about six bids. 10-6 in conference play gets a team in the top half of the conference.

People have to quit looking at the number of overall wins. That stat does not have the weight that it did 20 years ago.

Win at Kansas, then we can start talking a better than .500 record in conference play. Until then... getting into the NIT would be a great accomplishment. You can bet the players themselves have their eyes set on the NCAAs though.

We won't get to 20 wins unless we can start banking in some 3-pointers like other teams seem to do to us.

I think the Big XII gets five for sure: Kansas, Texas A&M, Texas, Kansas State and Baylor. Missouri is a bubble team. I can see us getting into that 7th spot in the conference standings. We are right there with Oklahoma, Nebraska, Okie State and Texas Tech.

Some of our non-conference losses will really hurt us. UNI hurts. Minnesota hurts. Bradley hurts. Alabama somewhat hurts. Our only "good" non-conference wins are Oregon State on the road and Purdue at a neutral site. We would have to make some major noise in conference play for the committee to let us in. Also, it isn't like they'll give a big XII team a 12 seed. 8 or 9 is about as high as they'll go before just excluding. Be happy if we get an NIT invite.

I thought I remember Okie St getting an 11 or 12 seed a couple of years back.
