Hoiberg also said they are close to scheduling another marque opponent to do a home and home with, and also said they have their 2015 "multi-team tournament set", although he did not reveal either.
I wouldn't be surprised if this "marquee" opponent is UConn... Just a gut feeling they don't respect Hilton Magic and want payback for the tournament exit 2 years ago..

Awesome news! I really hope we get a home-and-home with someone like Marquette, Indiana (might be a stretch), Mizzou (would love to see the old Big 8 teams come back), etc.

However, I may be most excited about the prospect of the 2015 Tournament. I hope we get in the most high profile of all - the Maui Invitational. It's always got a stacked field. However, it's probably unlikely given the trip to Hawaii this year. Old Spice Classic seems to be a good tournament, or the preseason NIT.
I'd like to see the possibility of going to Atlantis. I feel like it is taking over as the destination tournament. Maui is great but it doesn't have the same appeal as it used to.

In terms of talent, Atlantis is clearly making a run at Maui and definitely had the better field last year and next year's field is absolutely loaded. It needs to get on ESPN before it can match Maui's exposure and prestige though.

I've thought about UConn as well but definitely not for that reason. How many players on that team would still be playing next year? I'd guess close to zero. Ollie wasn't even the coach back then.

Fred and Ollie are close friends who come from similar backgrounds and most likely have similar futures as well. I could see the mutual interest there.

It'd be interested to see what their fans would say if we did play them. If I remember correctly, they were pretty arrogant before and after the *** kicking we gave them in the tournament.

I'm really curious about this marquee opponent for next year...
I would kill for a home and home with Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan St, Duke, Syracuse, North Carolina, or Louisville.

I am sure the AD remembers. I also know Ollie and Hoiberg are good friends. If I had to make a bet on who it would be I would say UConn.

Agree but I would rather go to Atlantis than to Maui.

Having it on ESPN would help but I kind of like it on NBC Sports. It kind of adds to the uniqueness and appeal of it.

Maui also has Chaminade who is always a pain.

I wonder if ESPN is helping with that marquee opponent scheduling. Seems like they get a good show in Hilton every time, and our program's reputation should be one that they can work with for a game now.

Considering the next couple years could very well be better than this year even, and this year is nothing to complain about so far, yeah, i could see why ESPN would want to set up a good matchup involving ISU.

The Battle 4 Atlantis tourney will be on ESPN next year. That was announced when the teams were announced.

I like the fact that it'll give our guys a little more familiarity with the Sprint Center. Plus, gives the KC people even more opportunities to see RV playing in person next season. :)

I would imagine that our big-time home-and-home would be at Hilton in '14?

We are likely going to play road games at a decent to good SEC opponent and at Iowa next fall, so we have to be looking for a big non-confernece home game.
