I agree, I don't see a playoff team in the Big 12 this year. The problem with the Texas Bowl is that they are going to most likely grab an in state team just for ticket sales... IMO we either end up in the Camping World Bowl or Cactus.

1. Sugar Bowl vs. SEC
2. Valero Alamo Bowl vs. Pac-12
3. Camping World Bowl vs. ACC
4. Texas Bowl vs. SEC
5. AutoZone Liberty Bowl vs. SEC
6. Cactus Bowl vs. Pac-12
7. Armed Forces Bowl vs. American Athletic

The link states the Armed Forces Bowl is a b10 tie-in. Do you mean it's a alternate for conferences looking to dump six win teams w/o a spot?

ESPN gives Notre Dame a 10% chance a playoff birth and the ENTIRE BIG 12 a 5% chance at a playoff birth.

They claim this was done via computer calculation, maybe they did it on my graphic calculator from the mid 90s.

I'm not sure how that's even possible since OU should have roughly the same chance as ND without even considering the odds of 9 other programs, one of which in TCU has been on the doorstep of the playoff most years it has existed.

If they only have 100% to split among the conferences, I'm surprised they don't give 99% to the SEC and ACC.

It looks like CBS has it listed incorrectly. SB Nation and College Football News show it as a Big 12 bowl.

Let's re-visit these projections in mid-December. My guess is few of them are accurate. But a playoff 4 of OSU, Alabama, Clemson and Oklahoma would be a yawner. Would sure love anybody but Alabama and Clemson in there every year.

I would try to hit a DEC 28 bowl game in Orlando though.

I'm going to be "that guy". Based on the bowl projection shown who are our wins against?

KU, KSU, BU, TTU, SDSU... who else?

I would presume we will be favored in these 5 games plus Akron. So favored in 6 games and underdog in 6 games. Of course where it goes from there is up to the players, the coaches and maybe a few lucky (and unlucky) bounces here and there. So if 6 - 6 is our projected finish, then our likely range is really 4 - 8 up to 8 - 4. Anything outside of that you would think either a lot of things went right or a lot of things went wrong.

Man, everytime I see projections like this I just HATE the Big XII bowl mix. The second best team (third when the sugar bowl is part of the selection) plays all the way down that list on Dec 28 in the Alamo bowl. Meanwhile the little XI is in the top 4 games and 5 of the top 6. Puke.

I want the Alamo Bowl. San Antonio is a great town with great weather, lots of fun things to do and amazing BBQ and TexMex. Cyclone fans would turn the Alamodome into Jack Trice South, effectively creating a home game against a higher level PAC 12 team.

A possible bonus feature would be if Washington State was the opponent. Along with December golf, brisket and margaritas we’d also get Mike Leach quotes....sign me up!

My guess is we play in Orlando against either Louisville or Virginia Tech.

15-0 Baby!

Run the table in the BigXII, beat OU a second time in the season for the league title, destroy Georgia, and squeak by Bama for the title.

At worst.

I'm not sure about that. I think there's a better than even chance we outdraw any Texas school except UT, plus there's more to it than ticket sales. The Houston tourism market would have to consider the amount of money that a large out of state contingency would spend on hotels, bars, restaurants etc vs. an in state fan base that already lives in Houston, makes a day trip out of it, or maybe spends one night.
