All I know is that I showed up last week looking forward to seeing something special in Jack Taylor and saw someone who pretty much reminded me of myself (a few years younger) . . . if you didn't know who had the record, there would have been at least 20 guys you would have guessed before him.

I'm giving him an out because he had an injury earlier in the summer. I must have just seen him on the wrong night.

He plays in a freak show system that is designed to just let someone shoot as many 3's as possible. Grinnell basically plays no defense in an effort to speed up the game as much as possible and tries to find the hot shooter and feed him the ball as frequently as possible. Put Taylor in a real system with a real team that is going to do more than just try to find him and pass him the ball to chuck up a three five seconds into the shot clock and he is going to look like a division III player...which is what he is.

Hey everyone, I just finished putting together my highlights from the first round featuring Kourtlin, Hogue, SDW, Edozie, Nader, Custer and Long. It is currently downloading to YouTube and I hope to have it posted here tomorrow morning.

Still to come:

-My view of the 3 point contest and dunk contest. I know Cyclone Fanatic already posted theirs but does everyone want me to post mine?

-My highlights of the two semi final games and the championship game. Those will hopefully be posted by Wednesday/Thursday morning.

I thought the grinnell style was in effect prior to jack Taylor going there. I don't think the coach changed philosophy just for Taylor.

Grinnell has been doing this long before Taylor showed up. In fact, they managed to get a game on ESPN about 10 years ago. It was absolutely putrid basketball. It was guys jacking up shots, zero defense, and tons and tons of missed wide open shots. That's the only Grinnell game I've ever watched, but if that's any indication, that team would've had a really tough time staying on the court for consecutive games at Lied.

Then again, a lot of the interviews with players makes it clear that they are just having a blast and don't seem to take themselves too seriously. I think that school has some wicked academic standards, so I doubt sports are real high on the priority list.

So, you showed up expecting to see a jet-quick; lights-out shooter and didn't.

Instead, what you saw was a different version of the fat guy that leads a Y-League in scoring because he never crosses half-court and has snow-birding down to an art form.
