Reading a thread like this makes me wonder what stuff I completely won’t understand at that age. I spent so much time messing with my grandparents TV as a kid.
Me too. Unfortunately for me, my 86 year old MIL has an iPhone and knows how to use it, although whatever her plan is she chooses to text my husband at the most inconvenient times and asks him to call her immediately. Then he panics, drops everything, calls, and she just wants to gossip about some family member.

Not sure if it’s better to be incapable of learning or fully capable of remaining a vindictive, demanding gossip, but I am guessing we have little choice in the matter if we reach that age.

My 87 year old Dad has his own plan through Verizon and he has a flip phone. He told me what he pays and I was surprised it was pretty inexpensive. I don’t remember how much now.

I used to have a flip phone with consumer cellular. Worked great for a long time, then started having coverage problems when the towers changed G preferences. Use a phone with US Cellular now that some consider smart ... but I would say it is less than knowledgeable.

Maybe try tracfone. No joke. I have used them for 20 years. The only time I have bought a new phone is when they told me the one I had would be obsolete. And I rarely spend more than $100 a year for service. That's texting as well. And I am certain they still have flips.
Second this. 91 year old Gpa has one and works great for him. A great choice for someone that uses it occasionally.

Lively.com. My mom uses a flip phone from them. She has vision issues and her phone has been
Jitterbug Flip 2 from them has worked well for my 91 year old great uncle. $20 a month for unlimited talk and text.

Though my other 92 year old great uncle likes his flip phone tracfone as well. I think it's fairly similarly priced?
