Bring in McAfee's crew and really take Gameday to the next level. Keep Desmond, boot Herbie and Pollack and please, please stop trotting out Corso.

McAfee is nothing more than a wanna be WWF guy. He goes way over the top on everything, just give some ******* analysis and quit with the hooten and yelling, it's not entertaining. I love Gameday but it seems the more they have McAfee on the less I pay attention.

Better optics I think? TCU made history in a bad way last night.
Yeah, in the TCU/Michigan game it looked like there were two fairly evenly matched teams where one team made too many mistakes and gave away the game. If they don't make those mistakes they probably win but the teams themselves were close enough to make it a contest.

TCU/Georgia looked like FBS vs FCS.

McAfee belong on a podcast or at best a radio show. His appearance and discussion is not cut out for broadcast televesion. He would fit in well with the Barstool guys, which isn't a knock, because I listen to a lot of their stuff. It's just delivered differently to a different audience.

He got away with a lot of sloppy throws in the games leading up to this. I was certain Georgia would absolutely punish him, and oh boy did they. I'm not happy about it--I just knew it would happen. The kid has heart, but not an accurate arm. I was 99.9% certain the dawgs would smother them defensively.

I just thought TCU would make a better showing defensively themselves. Holy sweet jesus did their linebackers and safeties bite on absolutely every single little misdirection and play completely undisciplined assignments. They looked like a bad high school team out there. It was actually pretty shocking.
In his first 12 games Duggan threw 3 interceptions. In his final 3 games, he threw 5.

See, I just think TCU beat Michigan fair and square. The teams each had 3 turnovers, and Michigan ended up with more total offense, but also had to possess the ball for +5 more minutes to accumulate those yards. Idk what TCU's deal was last night, but probably a little bit of a let down after the high last week, combined with Georgia being a sleeping giant that Ohio State awakened last week. Perhaps I am oversimplifying, but that's how I see it. TCU certainly doesn't belong on the same field as Georgia though. I do think they are on par with Michigan. Ohio State may have blown them out similarly to how Georgia did. The thing with Michigan is Harbaugh built them specifically to be able to beat Ohio State.

Exactly right. And that is nothing I am interested in.

Sadly, this part will got lost in all of this. Just from watching my Twitter and FB feeds last night, there was quite the outcry of people thinking Michigan would've given Georgia a better game, and excuse making for why Michigan lost to TCU. People opinions are difficult to change, and will revert to the popular narrative regardless of what results or facts are available.
Several AP voters had Michigan #2 today including Reece Davis

When he sticks to talking football he is extremely knowledgeable, the younger demo loves him.

I think one of the issues is that some of these Power 5 conferences really have 1 or 2 elite teams and then a bunch of mediocre to bad teams. Michigan only really has two quality wins this year: penn st and ohio st. Otherwise they just beat up on a bunch of bad to mediocre teams. The problem is that we really don't know how these elite teams stack up against each other until we get to the postseason because they don't want to play each other in the regular season (and I don't blame them for that, there's nothing to gain). So if Michigan builds a team singularly focused to beat Ohio State they really only have to beat maybe 1 or 2 other quality teams to back into the playoffs.

This is why I don't watch ESPN at all anymore other than when a game is on. It's not some ethical protest, it's just because I can't stand any of their shows, they've all moved pretty hard in that direction.

Their non con was infamously weak. They deserved to be in based on going undefeated and winning the Big 10, but I still think more than anything, they just executed well when they needed to and won games. Similar to TCU, aside from the whole not winning the Big 12 thing. I will say looking back, I was surprised when they announced TCU to the CFP. I thought the loss to K-State in the Big 12 championship was a nail in the coffin for them. I was happy to see the committee didn't punish them for that.

They did... until they didn't. Riding high after the Big 12s first cfp win last week. Tonight almost makes you question if a close loss to Michigan would've been better than what happened tonight.
I get the line of thinking, but to me that opens the door to the narrative that 2 Big 10 teams and 2 SEC teams is the best four team playoff. At least here…even though the best game was Ohio State vs Georgia, you have a situation where Michigan beat Ohio State and TCU beat Michigan. TCU was unquestionably good…they just matched up horribly with Georgia.

Terrible take. Just look at ratings, McAfee brought much needed juice to a dying show.

TCU/Georgia looked like FBS vs FCS.

And Ohio State couldn't come ready to play for a home game that had been dubbed by the media as the ultimate greatest single game in the history of sports and got their doors blown off.

Really this is just a year where one team has this iron clad grip on #1 and nobody else is close.

If TCU wasn't worthy of a 4 team playoff, the only argument left is that it should have been the top 4 SEC teams and nobody from other conferences. I mean that potentially is a valid argument, it makes just as much sense as saying Michigan is better than TCU or Ohio State is some ultimate perfect team after they got stomped at home in a huge hype game.

The Pac and ACC didn't exactly make a case that they needed representation more than Big 12 and Big Ten either.

It'll be very healthy to get a 12 team playoff where the SEC always gets 2-4 teams to reflect its strength, the Big Ten can get 2-3 teams to reflect its ownership of the selection process, and the other conferences just get to play and sometimes win without all this second guessing.
