A lot of that is on Williams. He missed a ton of wide open guys down the field. He does not see the field well. A lot of his check downs to start the game could have been legit shots down field
Well, I survived about one quarter of football before being reminded how absolute **** this team still is.
I’ve seen enough of Caleb Williams over the last year + 1 game. He is not good enough with his mechanics or his reads to be an NFL starter. I don’t care if he can improvise. I want a QB who can play on time.
I guess its a good reminder how lucky we are as ISU fans to have Kyle Konrardy. Back to back years in pressure situations against a rival nails 54 yard field goals to win the game, yet an experienced a (perhaps washed up now) kicker can't hit a 50 yard field goal at home to go up 14.
The five man rush seemed like the difference. A little pocket pressure and Williams was a different QB.
Bears have plenty of issues to fix but still say this is the play that turned the game.
Was an awful call that changed the game. But have you ever seen one lineman rack up FIVE penalties in one game?
The dude had 4 false starts + that holding call.
Side note - the NFL has to make penalties reviewable. If we can go frame by frame to see an out of bounds call or forward progress, you have to make these dumbass game changing penalty calls reviewable too. The Bears had two go against them that directly cost them points or gave the Vikings extra points (awful PI call on 3rd down).
I hear what you're saying, but making penalties reviewable would make NFL games last longer than college games, and the almighty TV networks would never allow it.
The title of the thread could be changed to "every year of my life other than a few years in the 80s Bears."

Nah, just allow challenges. Teams only get 2. Who cares if they challenge a penalty vs an out of bounds call?
No way. They did this a few years ago for PI and basically nothing was overturned. It would just waste time. Also, if you do this, then you need to review for not called penalties. Where do you draw the line? No one wants 4-5 hour games.
Caleb also has to get a lot better with accuracy on down the field throws. Way too inconsistent there.
Agreed. He overthrew multiple receivers that were wide open. Before the Darnell Wright holding and intentional grounding, he missed the TE in the middle of the field that was an easy throw for big yards. He either isn't very accurate or his mechanics get really bad.
He also struggled with his pocket presence at times. He would hang tough in the pocket and take a hit or run around doing his best Johnny Manzel backyard football impression.
I'm just worried his accuracy issues are in his head now. Like a golfer putting with the yips.
