Sounds like a fun trip shaping up for you! I used to claim Au Cheval in the West Loop area as my favorite burger of all time (its still amazing). Last time I was there, however, they were undergoing renovations, so we hit up Green Street Smoked Meats in the same area, and OH MY GOD was that place good. Highly recommend trying it out for the burger and more. Have fun, and Go Cubs!

If it is a weekend, avoid the Shed like the plague. That place is a madhouse. The Museum of Science and Industry is fun. The Nazi U-boat tour is pretty eye-opening. You have to book in advance, though. Very competitive to get those tickets.
Oh I always go during the week because the weekend crowds are ridiculous.

That place looks amazing. Need to try it next time I'm in town.

Best city in the world. Depends on your age and what you're looking for tho for recommendations.

If you're younger and into trendy/hip - check out the west loop. Moneygun/Aba/Boqueria/Trivoli Tavern/El Che all are great.

That time of year I'd really recommend the riverwalk. City Winery, Tiny Tapp, all great options. Just walk around and enjoy the views. Rossi's is a great dive bar near there.

Lot of good stuff around wrigley. Check out Clark st outside wrigley for some rowdy bars pre/post game. Southport is a few blocks west and more laid back and civilized with some great food/drink options.

Murphys Bleachers is the isu bar and there's usually a good crowd there

Long ago Ames had a place that mimicked that style of pizza.

Agree with all of this, been going to Chicago every summer since my brother moved there back in 2005. Also if you are down by the Navy Pier, there is a bar/grill named Timothy O'Toole's Pub on E Ontario St, some of the best wings I have ever had, https://www.timothyotooles.com/menu-chicago/ Highly recommend if you are down there

Pizza kitchen?
Back then on Hayward there was Jimmy Johns, Battles, Dominos, and PK right there in a row.

Yeah I think that's what it was called, when i moved to Chicago and people explained Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder to me I was like "Oh I've had that before" haha.

Well, the Art Institute is a MUST if you like art, and the Science and Industry Museum is also cool.
El Nandu (Argentinian) off of California (O'Hare Blue Line) and Fullerton (2731 W Fullerton) is a nice place for dinner.
Whatever you do, have a GREAT time in the best city in the country!

Murphy’s Bleachers is the ISU bar in the city proper and it’s in wrigleyville.

Are you looking for touristy things? What’s your budget for hotel? What do you guys like to do generally speaking?

Will help a long ways in giving recommendations
I know you know this, but I want the OP to know that Murphy’s bleachers is across the street from centerfield off Wrigley Field! It would be quite the awesome place to watch an Iowa State game!

If planning there, make sure to be prepared for quite a wait for a table

Definitely a great place to watch the Cyclones, just if the Cubs games overlap, Cyclones are usually relegated to the small side bar. Haven’t looked at game times for the weekend mentioned, but sometimes it works amazing for a double dip

Get there, put your name in, and go across the street to the Clark bar. They will come get you when your table is ready.

I know your coming to Chicago and probably want to do the deep dish thing, but if you are looking for a thinner slice within a brew pub, I’d recommend Piece Pizza in Wicker Park, just east of Milwaukee on North Ave. they claim to be New Haven style, I wouldn’t call it that, but they make a good pie.

The Chicago Art Institute is one of the best, if not THE best, art museums in the nation. There's a wealth of impressionist and modern art, with several major pieces. There's an entire display of Ancient Greek money and art, medieval weapons, Renaissance art, if the more current stuff isn't your scene.

The Field Museum and the Science & Industry Museum are both incredible, also - the S&I one may be a little more geared toward kids. Similarly, my daughter and I enjoyed the planetarium a lot last week, but the movies were probably for a younger crowd, as were some of the exhibits. My husband and son made it to the aquarium and loved it. The Medieval Torture Museum was a blast, and try to catch a show at the Chicago Theatre.

So, we loved Gino's East best of our deep dish excursions (which was inclusive of Lou Malnati's and Pizzeria Uno). However, the best pizza we had in Chicago was thin crust - Coalfire, up near Wrigley. It was fantastic.

There's such great shopping on the Magnificent Mile - Tiffany & Co is a flagship, make sure to stop by. If Yennifer is working, make sure to have her help you.

Um, I think we had the same vacation and went to the same places at the same time.

Coalfire has a Westown location too, although I like the Southport location better. For a long time my go-to for pizza in the city. Still great. I recommend dining in to have it at its best
