He wont pay a dime. Auburn's powerful boosters will, but thats still if they hire him. So yes he will owe some money.

ISU will get $750K out of this, one way or another.

Yes, there's a buyout involved if one party wants to back out of a contract before it expires. In Chizik's case, because he wanted to back out first, we're owed the buyout, usually paid by the school who wants to hire (Auburn).

Yes there is buyout, unless it is "dream job". Usually coaches will put in a clause for one or two "dream jobs" they can leave for without a buyout. Usually it's their alma mater. It happened to K-State in basketball when Huggins left for West Virginia. And supposedly before Urban Meyer went Florida, there was a lot of talk of him going to Notre Dame since that was the job in his contract with Utah he could walk for.
