Maybe we need to win some games if Harrison comes to ISU. Maybe a winning team is important to him. Anyone know?

I would not be surprsed if Tim Floyd went after him. f he chose Iowa over Clones, that would be Not Good.

The worse part if he choses another schools is the fact that he has spent so much time with ISU players and around the program. ISU could be helping him get better so he can go to a "Bigger Program".

I think McDermott has the inside track on him, not ISU. I don't think it matters much what our college name is. I think if we get rid of Greg like some of you people suggest, then we might want to kiss Barnes and some others goodbye.

If he does read this site, which there is probably a chance he does. I'm sure he loves all the hating on McD that you so called "die hard" fans show.

I know if would really influence my decision.

You would really let anonymous message board posters influence probably the biggest decision of your life? I don't think that's very smart. Also, ISU message board posters are no different than other schools.

In the end, Harrison will do what he needs to do just like Sedrick did. A better winning percentage next year would help recruiting immensely. Next year is year three and we will still be organizing our b/b household with 5 new players.

PHILOSOPHY 101
This is a potential topic to discuss: As a recruit you do not worry when it is McD or Genes record in his first year since the track record is short. When do you start to rethink about ttending a school due to a less than stellar record? Is it the second, third, fourth or fifth year if the record stays the same? If I was a recruit, I would be evaluating the record even after the second season as to future hopes. What do you think a recruit would do?

Or is playing time or the relationship with the staff or the campus itself or the conference prestige much more important?

Right now we look more organized in football after a year than after two years in basketball. Is this not true and we are more organized in basketball than in football?

Harrison Barnes is 15 or 16 years old. How many of you were committed to a college at that point? He's said numerous times that he is going to wait until his senior year to commit. I can't blame him. With all the big time schools that are likely to come calling, If I were him I would milk the recruiting process for all it is worth. And with that said, I really hope he is a Clone.

I don't think any player is a "must have" player - however, if McDermott failed to sign Barnes at this point I think it would be a HUGE indictment of his recruiting ability.

Nothing to worry about here. He is not going to Iowa. The kids get free tickets to every game. Iowa, ISU, Drake, UNI it doesn't matter. If you are good at basketball in high school you get free tickets. They don't even have to be recruiting you.

The key to Barnes is Coach Prioleau. They are very very close and if Prioleau is still around when it's time for Barnes to commit, then he is a Cyclone.

Wasn't Aaron Fuller suppose to visit Iowa this weekend too?

Yes, people get this confused all the time.

My point then flows to Wes committed verbally earlier than I expect HB to commit. HB will probably play it out to the end. WE was not in the limelight whereas HB will be known far and wide.

I know our posters are no different then other schools. But did you notice the rest of my post. He is going to come here because of Greg McDermott being the coach. If we keep getting more and more divided and start complaining more and more about the coach, why would a kid want to come here?? Specially, if he has to worry about a coaching change.

What about Chris Babb, what are people's opinions on him?

Scout profile on Chris Babb says, Areas needing improvement: Ball handling, Penetration. Do we really nead more players with ball handling/ penetration issues? I say, if we need another wing, move Brakins there,(he has ball handling/penetration issues also) and recruit 2 stud juco PF types.

BryceC- I agree. We've got every advantage in recruiting Barnes and if Greg is a great recruiter we might already have Barnes committed. On the other hand he's probably like a lot of us and waiting to see if Greg can get it done at the Big 12 level, and also may be considering the style of play. If he likes running and a more wide open game, he shouldn't like Iowa any better than us. Solid improvement in our record next year is crucial. If we have a year similar to the first two, I'm afraid Barnes recruitment will be wide open going into his senior year and we'll lose our advantage.

Exactly. That is why we need to get after it next year in non conference and not dnk around until the conference. We will not win the conference next year and the number of wins will be more important. We need to beat the Bradleys and Minnesotas and Iowas.
