That is a great point. NDSU lost a bunch of senior starters from last years team, but I think I heard they were starting something like 13 seniors again this year? Is that right?

When we lose a bunch of seniors, it seems like all of the sudden we're having to rely on RS Freshmen or JUCO's to step up.

We are not building good depth at all in this program.
Ironically the most devout of the Rhoads defenders said that is exactly what he was doing.

Injuries suck and this team looked alot different without Farniok. Not too many programs lose a couple of all-conference players in the first game.

Not sure Farniok would have made that much of a difference - NDSU made adjustments after the first quarter and I don't think he would have made that much of a difference.

LOL are you guys really calling out the guy that spends countless hours providing content for the site that you are all posting on right now? Be angry at the team/coaching staff not a sports writer.

I seriously feel like there are a lot of trolls showing up today.

Either that, or this board is full of teenagers that haven't paid much attention to this program over the past few decades.

That being said, there are no excuses needed. We lost to a three time national champion that has the longest winning streak in the history of FCS football. We didn't lose to a bad team. We lost to a good team that just happens to play at a lower level.

Thanks for being level headed.

Go ahead. Take the loss out on me, big shot behind an anonymous username. I'm used to it.

Thanks for your input and page views, Doc.

Chris, I quit reading this thread at this post so I'm not sure what all had been said, but I just want to say thank you. Thank you for your excellent coverage of Iowa State athletics through your outstanding journalistic abilities. Thank you for taking **** from idiots on your own forum who feel the need to bash you just because the team lost. Thank you for providing this forum free of charge so we all have a place to discuss Iowa State. You are a true Iowa State fan, unlike the idiots who seem to have taken over this board lately. I hope you don't let these people get to you, because you're one hell of a journalist and a better Cyclone fan than any of us on this board. Keep doing what you're doing.

People just need to realize that CW is a homer. He gets paid to be. If the Clones stink and nobody cares about them anymore, then CW would be out of a job.

So you really can't blame him for puckering up this pig of a program right now. It's in his best interest. And if he starts ripping on ISU football, then he risks losing his access possibly.

So you can't really blame him. Just beware when you read articles describing how improved this team is and why you should get all excited that it could be a bit misleading, that's all.

CW, along with Rhoads himself and other coaches, have said all summer and all week long that we will know what we need to know about this team by 3 pm today. Well, the team has spoken, and it's just more of the same crap.

Hard for me to put any positive spin on what happened today. I don't see anything positive that can be built on from that mess. I mean, where do you even start? Nobody looked good except for the punter.

This only happens everywhere where the game of football is played. Absolutely brilliant.

I don't care to hear about injuries or ejections. Frankly, we should be better than an FCS team at basically every position and we are not. Looking at a long season filled with excuses and "waiting for development". We're in year 6 now of CPR, the time for all that has passed. If he's not winning by now, he's never going to. This **** show continues on all year and the rah rah Rhoads bandwagon is gonna be pretty empty come December.

And I hate on Williams as much as the next guy, but what's he supposed to do, get on the radio and be like "yep, we blow, see ya next year folks"? That's a tough spot to do a live show after an abortion of a game like that.

Not sure why, but I had to chuckle at the bolded part.

What the hell is wrong with some of you people? Go find sone friends to blow off some steam and let it go. No amount of angry words will make this situation better, and it probably won't make you feel any better anyways.

It was just brutal after the first qt. a bs ejection and players dropping like flies. I figured that would be a problem but didn't expect the team to wilt quite the way they did. I'd say if anyone can pin this on CW we ship him overseas. :)
i sure hope they progress somehow.

No idea why anyone would rag on Chris. He is an ISU fan too and had to watch the same pile of crap football game as we did. Additionally, he has a financial stake in it too. The better ISU is the easier it is for him to sell ads and promote the site.

Also, ISU, a big 12 team has no business losing to any fcs school regardless of how many national titles they've won regardless of injuries or any other excuse. That's 2 years in a row. Simply pathetic coaching staff in Ames Iowa.

I actually feel bad for CW/Whitver because the schedule just gets more brutal. When we're 0-5 after taking some major curb stomps from Baylor, Oklahoma State and probably K-State, they are going to sound 10 times more distraught.

But then we'll beat Toledo and CPR will give a passionate postgame speech and all will be right in the Cyclone world

The number one reason I sold this site after so many years. Nothing is ever good enough or the right thing, even when awesome and free. CW does a hell of a job and continues to take it like nobody else would.

It was the same as last year against UNI. Moving the ball well, lose Farniok and then the offense stalls.

Leave Chris alone,...... it is not his fault we are one of the absolute worst D-1 teams in the nation. Recruiting assessment and player development by this gawd-awful crew of coaches is abysmal. Wyoming has a pretty good head coach we might be able to steal.
