Looking forward to this to really see where some guys are at. Flo gives a break down of all the ranked wrestlers. This is going to be a tough tournament. https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/6050362-all-ranked-wrestlers-coming-to-cklv-2017

Things I'll really be looking to see:
Parker - can he bounce back from the upset loss this weekend. I think he's good enough to be top 4 at this tournament, but will have to prove it.
Storr - very tough weight. 12 other ranked wrestlers outside of Kanen. I think he can compete with any of them.
Degen - Where does he stack up?
Pestano - I think he should be a top 20 guy. He can go out an earn that ranking this weekend.
Harrington - Same as Pestano. He's good enough to be ranked.

Don't expect anything from the other weights.

I am interested in what Colbray brings this weekend based off of his draw. There is a ton of potential there and his performance has gotten better throughout the year.

Are we watching the same kid? Coming out of HS, Colbray should be teching that kid from Rider..

You are so emotional and contradicting of people so i will leave it at that. Everyone needs time and he is only a RS Freshmen. We as a society want to judge so quickly with social media and so on. I am extremely intrigued with his potential, I may eat crow at the end of the season and I can handle that!

Jeez, all i did was disagree with you. Relax. What has Colbray done so far this year that has you excited/optimistic for the future for him? Genuinely curious, not trying to be "emotional and contradicting". Is it because of his performance yesterday winning 8-3? Laird was a true freshman who never even won a state title in HS. Colbray was a 5 time Fargo National Champion and the #1 recruit in the country at his weight. Sorry, but I expect more from him.

There is a reason why Dresser has brought in so many recruits around his weight already in just his first class.

That could also be because Harrington is a Redshirt Junior and it is a tough cut to 197 for Colbray. I think Colbray could go to 285 after Marcus graduates

I also expect better results from Colbray. I saw improvement from Drexel dual to Lindenwood and Rider from him. Maybe it is the weight cut or mental toughness, I am not sure. But I do expect better results from him as the season progresses.

Is he really that big? I thought he looked noticeably smaller than his rider opponent.

Buf or anyone with knowledge- it’s mentioned here that Colbray is cutting a lot. Is that true? I didn’t think he looked big at 97. He doesn’t seem to have the frame as Marcus as he’s severely undersized for the weight. Maybe I’m way off here but I considered him 4 years at 97.

Dresser said he is cutting a lot of weight in a recent interview. I think his legs/hips are huge. I thought I heard he is in the 230 range off season. Maybe that isn't true. I have heard a lot talk about him being a hwt from the beginning, so not 100% sure

Wow if that’s really true, I bet it could be taking a toll on him. Gives me some hope he will be able to adapt by the end of the season.

I can’t say it is 100% true, but I’ve heard he is a big 197 pounder multiple times

Colbray has been a major disappointment so far, BUT there have been guys who looked awful as 2nd year freshman and became pretty good. Michael Moreno is an extreme example, remember his 4-17 RS frosh season?

Colbray definitely came to Ames with a lot of talent. Being a 5x Fargo champ is no joke. I am not going to write a guy off in his second season (first full year) who has shown some great talent and results (freestyle results do carry some weight). But I also don't get to see his day to day effort, his performance in the room, his mentality, personality or overall work ethic.

I am excited to see how the team does at 133, 141, 149 and 184. I am not worried about team results this year, but more about certain individual performances each meet plus the overall progress the team makes throughout the season.

What is the general expectations from this event? Basically any win at all will be considered a quality win. I am expecting to place at 133 and 149 with outside shots at 141, 184, HWT.

I believe 157 and 197 have the talent to place but doubt it happens just yet. Would be encouraging to see a couple wins at these weights.

If everybody shows up 157 is going to lack any very top end wrestlers but be crazy deep. So it'll depend on the draw to figure out what to expect, since Straw could end up drawing a top ten guy and then a first round consolations match against a just outside the top ten guy, or he could draw a first round match against somebody just in the top 20.

133 - I expect Parker to place, and think he's right there with anyone ranked 11-20.

141 - There are 9 guys ranked ahead of Storr, so him being top 8 would improve his ranking. That said, I expect him to be top 8 and think he could be top 6. In fact, Merideth is the only guy right now that I don't think he could beat. If Storr beat Chad Red, or Gasca, for example, I wouldn't be surprised at all.

149 - This weight is tough. No idea what to expect here, but would like to see him place, top 6 would be great.

184 - Based on rankings, Pestano wouldn't be expected to make top 8. I think he does. It will be interesting for Big 12 purposes to see where he stands against the Northern Colorado ranked wrestler.

Hvy- Same as 184. Harrington not expected to place based on rankings, but I think he does. He's capable of beating anyone ranked 11-20 at heavyweight.

Overall, I'd be disappointed if there weren't at least 2 guys in the top 8. Best case would be 5 guys imo, although I'm willing to be surprised by Colbray. Hopefully the guys like Storr, Degen, and Parker knock off some highly rated guys and start to climb in the rankings getting close to the top 10.

Expectations from me are:
125 -- win a match.
133 -- top 8
141 -- top 8
149 -- top 8
157 -- top 16
165 -- win a match
174 -- win a match
184 -- top 16
197 -- top 16
285 -- top 16

Like Judoka mentioned, it really depends on the draw for the non-ranked weights. Draw a top seed then fall into consolations against a mid-tier guy and it becomes a tough tournament quickly. Overall, I want to see some upsets from our non-ranked weights and for 133/141/149 to beat 1-2 guys they aren't supposed to.
