Considering our guards going forward looked like...

Morris
Long
Cooke
Burton
Thomas
Custer

...I figured one guy at the end of that was going to go, to be honest.

Not Monte or Naz... they're probably starting
Not Burton or Cooke, particularly after what they went through to make it to Ames

That left Custer or Thomas

This year made it pretty clear Thomas was better, particularly towards the end of the season
Without Iceman versus UAB, we lose by 10, not almost squeak one by

Had to be Custer, and SDW before him. :(

That's okay. Fred can run a team of 9-10 guys (7-8 in rotation and a few spares, just in case, who maybe have a sophomore breakthrough like a Naz Long) with 3-4 in incubation on transfer redshirts as long as he wants, as far as I'm concerned.

Should he have been getting all of the minutes you were advocating for BDJ??

I don't love it when players transfer. But I'd rather have them leaving on somewhat good terms and I'd rather have them leaving because they didn't make the rotation.

He was in line to see some serious PT next season I felt like. I just don't understand how going to a smaller school is going to help him, especially since he'll be sitting out a year. After Morris leaves in 2016, he'd be in line to start. He won't be eligible to play until that same year (2016/2017). I'm confident in saying he would have been a starter his senior year.

I stand corrected, he'd be starting his JUNIOR and senior year. Forgot he was just a Freshman. Even more disappointing!

Here nor there
@TravisHines21: That leaves ISU w/o a second true-PG on the roster and ‘Clones haven’t been recruiting another. Cooke/Burton/Niang probably enough though.

I'm sure he meant Cooke/Naz/Niang. I don't think Burton is a PG in any sense.
I hope it wasn't a mistake, but is does seem likely it was. If Burton has a little pg in him, he will be a starter.

There is absolutely no room for another 2 guard with Naz and Hallice both getting starters minutes (and that ain't changing).
Morris, Kane, Naz, and Thomas worked. If you can get someone somewhat near a Kane (does not need to be AA level), you go for it imo.

I would love to see him at UNI, what with them losing 5 or 6 seniors this year. Although I suppose Fred wouldn't allow it, considering we play them a couple more times during Clayton's remaining eligibility.
Wyatt Lohaus is as good and would only be a year above.

There's obviously some doubt that your assessment lines up with that of those involved.

Good luck to Clayton. I think he'll end up being a pretty good college basketball player; I think it would be awesome if he went to Colorado State to play for Larry

I was hoping he'd develop into a solid Big 12 point guard, but if the playing time wasn't there this year and won't be there in the near future I can't blame him. Seems like a guy who would be well served to go to a JUCO, prove himself there and then decide if he wants to go back into a major conference or stick at a lower level.

Best of luck Clayton!
Does this mean the other point guard that Cheick wants is coming ?
