Smoke on the Water is quite possibly the worst entrance song ever. Maybe if it were 1982 and I was sitting on the hood of my T-top Firebird with a comb sticking out of my back pocket I might think otherwise. But this is 2016.
I'm amazed at how much some people care about this.
With ISU's talent already on scholarship in the athletic department they could throw together the first Division 1 Baseketball team.
I still think, if cut up properly, this could be an awesome entrance song:

Purely for the intro and the chorus alone. Not sure if it'd be loop-able enough and lord knows it probably isn't recognizable to the large majority of fans and athletes, but still.
Hail Mary - Tupac
Just go full Creed entrance. Hell get some dude spitting fire in the air as the players walk out
an old high school friend of mine was partly responsible for Tupac's "sound" and style
who would of thunk a big white goofy yet musical kid from eastern Iowa would be in that arena some day with Death Row records. Lol
The guy I know worked for both and collaborated with Tupac on his sound early on. His 4th studio album was ultimately released by both Interscope and Death Row a year or two before his deathTupac's sound and style was created with Interscope, not Death Row.
I'll tell you this, it's not worth speculating. But I will say tha Iowa State is going to have a unique entrance song, and it's not even Comin Thru. It's gonna be lit!
2. Not every fan is a WWE fan, so getting a song that has to do with that won't please everyone.
I think people are over-thinking this WWE comment. I don't think they are looking at WWE songs to connect with WWE fans. WWE is in the business of hype and grand introductions. We are looking for a hype song to go along with the introduction of the team.
If the song meets that criteria, it doesn't matter if 70% of the people in the stands have no clue what the song is or where it's from. It'd probably add more to the atmosphere as the song is adding to the game day experience instead of connecting with fans who have an emotional connection to the song.
90% of people under 23 think WWE is lame.i agree. I don't watch that ****, so I'll have no idea if it is a WWE song. It just seems like everyone wants it to be. I think these people believe they are cooler than they are.
I hope it's a really annoying rap song just so some old codgers can wax poetic about bringing Smoke on the Water back.
