I think we both have good starting backs but our 1,2 punch of Johnson and woody will be able to do more than just one back in Coker.

OT: Reiff
OT: Zusevics
OG: Gettis
OG: Scherff
C: Ferentz

Maybe MacMillan as well.

I really didnt pay alot of attention to Iowa at all last season. Out of all those guys were any starters last season. I know all the Ferentz boys are good but how bout the others? any Pre Season 1st Team All-Americans? Any Pre Season Big 10 candidats, any Projected 1st round draft pics? Tell me something about them?

Reiff is only a JR and already projected as a top 15 pick in the 2012 NFL draft by many.

Zus is a likely candidate for preseason all Big Ten.

Guard is interesting, there isn't one super stud there, but there are 4 really good guys.

James Ferentz will be the best center on the Iowa OL since Bruce Nelson in 2002 - he's going to be an All American before he graduates.

Iowa fans pretty much universally agree this is the deepest OL Iowa has had in years.

Reiff is a first round pick, although he will probably score lower than Vince Young on the Wonderlich if he had to take it. The rest of the group is very solid, and the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, at least is was last year.

My thought is that Iowa may not be as dominant on the line because they are Iowa. They are supposed to have a really good line with all the experience, but that was the case last year with the DLine and they were middle of the Big Ten. I expect Iowa to haev about the 3rd or 4th best line in their conference.

If our defensive line has improved from last year, and all the coaches say they have, we will be better equipped in this game.

Reiff is one of the top rated tackles in the JR class. He will be a pre-season AA and if he decides to leave after this year could easily go in 1st round.

Zusevics flies a little under the radar but has proven that he can play. I still think he gets drafted.

Scherff has battled injuries, but when healthy was a force. If he goes down again, MacMillan can step in (Steele has him 3rd team all big ten as a soph, but I don't think he even starts yet, we'll see).

Plus the talent behind them is very hyped, but that doesn't mean much until they prove it on the field. They played very well last year and we only lose Vandy, so expectations are high on this bunch.

Nothing against Shontrelle Johnson and Jeff Woody, but Coker showed more last year than Johnson and Woody combined, He had something like 600 total yards, and Johnson and Woody probably had somewhere around 400. But I don't think either school should be bragging about their running backs until we see them both in a starting role.

Coker is Nick Bell 2.0. Not sure how good he will be if he can make the NFL. However, he is going to be a beast in college. With Ferentz ability to coach on offensive line he will be very hard for linebackers to take down.

The bolded portion is completely illogical. You're saying because Iowa's defensive line underperformed last year that the offensive line will underperform this year.

Should we expect Jake Knott to underperform this year because Alexander Robinson underperformed last year?

Let's not kid ourselves, Coker is really good and he's going to have a monster year IMO.

And for those on here saying he's going to get hurt, he's a LOT bigger than SJ is. Coker can handle a lot more hits than SJ can.

However, with our offense, I'd rather have SJ than Coker. And with Iowa's offense, I'd rather have Coker.

And I'm not so sure any team can say that their backup RBs are any better than the others right now? Woody's a good change of pace back, but James White and Duran Hollis are unproven... as are Nealy and Standard obviously. And most of Iowa's backups are also unproven too. I'd say that's a wash at this point.

Yep I agree. Coker is darn good and is going to be hard for us to handle. We are going to have to load the box against this guy and our young safeties are going to have their hands full watching for play action and full back and TE's releasing on the flats and downfield. Also their wideouts going deep. I really do not like our chances in this game, but would be as happy as a drunk monkey if we could pull it off.

You do realize that Coker would not have looked so good last year if the starter was not caught with drugs. He would be questioned as much or more than SJ and JW. Odd how quickly a topic in the Cyclone Football section becomes a U of I cheerleading thread. Move this to instate if that is where the thread is going.

I see your point, but how is talking about how good a player is a cheerleading thread? What I see if Hawk fans and ISU fans exchanging info. An ISU fan ask about Iowa's O-line and they provided the info. I hate the Hawks, oh do I hate them, but I also admit that their O-line and tailback are going to be VERY good this year.
