Hopefully this off year will give Babb the time he needs to be a contributor down the road. If he was that good as some had hoped, Fred would have recruited him in the first place, but to my understanding that wasn't the case. Still hoping ISU was a good move for both him and us.
I don't know if Babb will or won't be a solid contributor but I won't use Fred's recruitment of him as a sign of his ability. During his last days here I think Fred's recruiting was mere convenience.

I think Prohm has already overcome much of the Hoiberg shadow, particularly with his excellent recruitment.

Many would disagree on your use of the word excellent. Lack of any top 150 high school recruits while recruiting with a top 10 team and ample playing fine is not excellent. His recruiting would be considered average in comparison to the rest of the conference.

Context and two top 10 JUCOs make your argument look a little silly. If Prohm is going to capitalize on a Top 10 team, it will be his 2017 class that reaps the benefits.

He did as well as he could considering how late to the game he was. You have to remember that we had a HC who was MIA from the UAB loss until he boarded a plane to Chicago on June 2nd.

Prohm was hired a week or two later, and didn't finish his staff until the end of June.

Landing the two Juco players was huge. He also landed Carter, who looks like he could turn into a very good player for us.

Who knows how Long and Young will do, but the staff is excited about them.

I would say that Prohm at least dug us out of the hole that we were in. We will find out how good of recruiter he is in the next 12-18 months though.
