is there any chance we see us getting a Nike Pro Combat uniform any time soon? or any kind of alternate uniform. i want to see us in an all white alternate uniform with cardinal accents.

Honestly, why would you want to 'copy' what other teams are doing by going to a combat unifrom? I think that this football team needs to find it's own identity with the uniforms they have now. Although, I wouldn't mind seeing an all white uniform like timappelgate stated. If they want to create a combat unifrom - then so be it - but why mess with the order of things?

Nobody said anything about copying other teams by going to a combat uniform - first and foremost, the Nike Pro Combat uniform isn't so much about the style of the uniform as it is about the materials and construction - they are lightweight, ultrabreathable, and constructed in a fashion in which performance is enhanced. Second in consideration is the style of the uniform, which if you knew anything about them, each and every one of them was unique. If we were to do a "Combat" uniform, we wouldn't be ripping off someone else's style - we'd be coming up with something that was unique to Iowa State.

you're right...I wasn't trying to spark a debate or anything like that, but if they do create a 'combat uniform' for this team, why not just keep the same theme this team has now and leave it at that with the beathable, lightweight materials and son on. Why mess with something that is already in place - see mizzou and a few others from last season, totally away from their school colors which was totally outrageous - this isn't a fashion show it's college football and your teams colors shouldn't be messed with. that being said, I was in limbo when ISU went with some 'blue' in their uniforms when their colors ARE Cardinal and Gold! My fifteen year old son said that he wanted to see ISU with more blue in their uniforms and I could have beat him with a stick!

I really liked some of those unis. Mizzou's stealth ones were pretty good, and Miami's too. We could definitely keep it just like our regular ones though.. it looks like Texas is basically unchanged except material.

I'm surprised that Nike has kept with the "combat" uniform name. It seems rather un-PC considering the wars we are fighting right now. It kinda reminds me of when Winslow Jr. went off on the I'm a soldier rant. Just a thought.

often times you see a team rally around an alternate uniform. it offers something special and unique for them. put them on for a big night game or something, and a team will get pumped to play in them.

They will? I'm pretty sure it's the opportunity to make a statement that gets them ready to play, not what they're wearing. USC/LSU/Florida/etc. all wear the same jerseys pretty much all the time and they don't seem to have too many issues.

Notre Dame does/did this with the sweet looking Green unis.

The broke them out for "Big Games" like the one with USC when ND almost beat USC. USC ended up winning the game and I beleive the NC that year.

I like the idea
