His video is less than impressive... Am I missing something?

You have to watch them with rose colored glasses you big dumb idiot!

But I agree, he's got a great frame and could be an awesome prospect, but if those were the best highlights they could find, he is not tearing things up by any stretch of the imagination. Anyone could accidentally get blocked down the line of scrimmage into a pile where someone else made the play.

Cory was 6'4 215 his sr year in high school and was a MLB. The next year he is playing alot of snaps for Iowa Western at DE and is 6'4 245 as a true frosh. Give him a redshirt year and he would definitely contribute for ISU. Alot of potential with this kid and he WANTS to be at ISU. If CPR doesn't offer this year and he stays at Iowa Western for another year I could see some big schools coming after him.

He likes Iowa State a lot. If Iowa State offered him, he would most likely go there. That being said, to explain what he was saying in the video, it's not that he's comparing Iowa State to Oregon, but Oregon has shown a lot of interest in him as well. He's got passion for Iowa State, gotta love it. I bet him and Rhoads would get along just fine.

Cory Morrissey has a great motor, athleticism, and a love for Ames, Iowa where his family is from. I wish ISU would offer an instate kid like this, someone who went back into the recruiting world and is now standing with 3+ D1a offers and being seriously talked to by Oregon, Utah etc. We cant lose a kid like this! He starts as a true fresh at the number 5 ranked juco in the nation, how is that not impressive? thats iowa talent

Memphis, Akron, and Ohio have just recently offered him full ride. Oregon flew out and talked to him, he is on bamas recruiting website, yet ISU is holding back. Apparently something is wrong with local kids

I'm sure that CPR doesn't find anything wrong with the local kids. If he's worth offering I'm sure the staff will shoot him one, if they're not already talking to him, but you seem to know everything there is to know about the situation.

If he loves ISU so much why doesn't he walk on, work hard and kick butt and earn a scholarship?

Side note: I watched him play for Gilbert last year and he was pretty good then I saw him at the Gilbert Homecoming this year and yes he looked like a legitimate D1 player.

Last year there was talk about Cory having a greyshirt offer from Iowa State. I'm not sure what happened there, but he did turn down an offer from UNI to take his chances at IWCC in developing enough to get bigger DI FBS offers. I'm very glad to see that paying off for him. His limitation coming out of high school was playing RB and LB when his frame and speed and agility were DL material. I hope that he's a Cyclone someday!

So, has ISU talked to him?

I think that ISU is caught in a little bit of a numbers game here. Supposedly, this class is going to be around 20, sot there's only a few spots left. They just got their JC DE that should be able to contribute immediately. Assuming Morrisey is a 4 to play 3, he would be closer to signing a HS kid who would RS his first year at ISU. Seems to me that he has the body and abilities of a future DT. I'm betting that Bevins is sitting in his spot right now and if the hoks pull him away, Morrisey will get the offer. Otherwise, if he waits and plays another year at IWCC, he will surely have a scholarship for 2013. But the competition will be a lot more fierce.

I dont think there is a question that Cory Morrissey can play right away. Like posted above , he was LB and RB in HS with no DE experience. Comes into the number 5 ranked juco in the nation and is starting his freshman year. The competition must be crazy at that school because if i read right, they sent D lineman last year to Oregon,West Virginia, and Washington State all on scholarship. He must know competition and rises to it

i was thinking the same thing. we have 4 DEs already. i say offer this kid and make it 5! d-line is where we need the most help so why not? i like getting the bigger DEs who can convert to DTs. i would still like to see the coaching staff land a solid LB and at least 1 safety.

exactly! first year playing DE and is playing well. I only think Cory will get better and better and could even move inside to DT with a couple of years with Yancy.
