-I know this would be really out there, prob just wishful thinking on my part but hear me out...

-Gill goes through two other interview proccesses and doesn't get either job with the Auburn miss taking a lot out of him. Pollard approaches him and asks him to interview in which Gill says no thanks, I don't want to go through this process again and not get the job-3 straight misses would really hurt my ego and the last one was hard on my family, not to mention what the players are going through

-Pollard says I completely understand, but hear me out--go back and pretend you want no part of us or any other school. Tell Buffalo your happy there and you are taking your name out of any other job (basically what Chizik did which is where I know this gets pretty far fetched). But why would he do this???---to completely take any public pressure or media spotlight out of the process. Pollard is able to talk to him in private with no expectations and sell the school

-When Gill accepts, he issues an apology with the simple explanation he had a change of heart and they gave him an offer he couldn't refuse.....or, if he doesn't get the job or decides he doesn't want it, nothing hurt, no pressure

-OR...we just go with Ditka, you can't go wrong with Ditka!!

Thought his recently signed two year extension would make a buyout more expensive.

He did give his word he would be in Buffalo next year, unlike some coaches... I believe him.

I would actually have a problem taking him now. He DID give his word, and we all know how bad we felt when Jene Chizz bent us.

Its called wealth sharing  You are a small school..you have a much wanted coach..quickly get the legal stuff taken care of so the school that takes him has to pay you more $$. It happens all the time.

Having said that...I dont think its going to be Gill but I would be thrilled it was.

Completely OT, but everytime I hear his name, I always think to myself, "man, his names should be turned around, because it sounds better as, Gill Turner." Don't get me wrong, I like the name and all, it just sounds like he should flip flop his names... LOL. I digress......

I've said it in all the Gill threads since he's been taken out of the mix, and I'll say it again in this one- once he publicly said he was not taking the job and not in the running for any jobs, I DON'T WANT HIM. No matter how good of a coach we think he may be, we would not want him to have the same lack of integrity and class as Sleazik.

Besides, Ditka will be a much better coach.

No one has the same lack of integrity and class as Chizik. I would still want Gill, because he was the best coach out there. The timing just wasn't right.

This sort of reminds me of the time we got Tim Floyd. 1st he publicly said no, then he took the job... (and boy did he deliver) ...until he fled for Chicago... But I guess, Turner Gill could happen, however I'd almost hate to take him now that he's given his word he's staying in Buffalo

He made a very clear promise and commitment to Buffalo. I respect his character, and I don't want to end up more jaded after watching him break his very public word.

I jumped right onto his bandwagon, and he would be great, but he's not coming. It's time to move on, maybe to Harvard.

Yeah, kind of tarnishes the whole reason of why we would want him--his honesty and integrity. I know it won't happen, I guess I'm in denial-just thought it was such a perfect fit for everyone.

Bring on Da Coach!
