CPR on the td pass from Lanning to Lazard...

I've been under the impression for the last few years that our offense struggles mostly due to Rhoads, who clearly knows nothing about offense, has way too much say in what happens offensively. This definitely fuels that suspicion.

This is really starting to look like when the old guy who's job it is to clean the bathrooms at the Pizza Ranch before closing actually has to answer the phone and take an order because everyone is busy.

"Pizza? Let me check and see if we have that."

Was there any follow up for an explanation of the comment? I assume not or they wouldn't be allowed in next time.

He's gone. The last straw for a coach on the bubble is calling out players publicly rather than taking responsibility. The Rhoads era is over.

"probably not a ball that should have been thrown."

I thought is was a good back shoulder pass to our best receiver who then made a heck of a play to shake loose for a td.
Fire CPR. He sounds like a MAC coach at this point. So they benched him because the TD pass worked. What a sad lot of coaches.

This is the same coach who punted on 4th and 3 in TCU territory down 10 to play field position. Oh yeah, he did it last year against TCU too, in the first half while we were still in the game to gain 20 yards of field position. Its like he is oblivious to our opponent and the game situation.

He is still playing the game with the mentality that 31 points will win every game. That is still true in the NFL, and Big Ten, but not the Big 12.

You have to adjust your offensive philosophy to the opponent. You have to score, and not allowing your QB's to make dangerous throws ain't going to cut it, and I don't have any problem with Lanning's throw, I thought it was perfect. The DB had his back to the ball, had no chance to intercept it, and even if Allen hadn't caught it he drew the flag for Pass Interference.

1st quarter game plan was great. It was aggressive. Then we decided that going shot for shot with the #3 team in the nation was bad somehow and changed it all back to our old ways, and that was that.

What a joke, your best WR in a mismatch with no help over the top and he doesn't want the QB to throw the ball? Explains a lot when it comes to ISU QB's in his tenure.

What a stupid reply. He does not make sense anymore. He has a 2 win team and he is worried about a 40 yard interception. Better than punting. What baloney.

I thought it absolutely should have been thrown. He wasn't open a ton but he had good positioning and it was one-on-one coverage. Worse case scenario is Lanning throws a bad ball and Lazard has to play defense to stop an interception.

Only defense of CPR's comment I can think of would be if there was somebody else more open.

Rolling a little to the left, I do not remember very many options to throw to besides Lazard. So Paul wanted him to run and maybe throw the ball out of bounds because he was scared of a deep interception? That is stupid. Stuck on stupid. Why even have Monday morning media meetings if all you can do is lie?

My only request is someone with an offensive background. Enough of the DC's turned head coaches.

Ha. You have one of the best receivers in the country and he has half a foot plus on the covering CB. But that ball shouldn't have been thrown. This statement from him reinforces that he mind ****s the QB's. He's clueless.

The cornerback must have been Nick Orr the Great.

I just.......I just can't take it anymore. That's a vertical route with a back shoulder throw. That design is basically never "open" but it's almost impossible to defend. Joel put it on Lazard and he made a play.

It's been a theme with this staff that I have ******* about for years. They have so obsessed with "doing the right thing and making the right play" that they have failed to promote an atmosphere in which players can go make plays. It's been seen in personnel (Bundrage, Warren, etc should never have been redshirted) and it's been seen in things like this. No one wants to let a guy make plays? How many of TCUs TDs were "open" and should have been thrown? Maybe 1 or2? The rest were all visually covered and there was a good throw and catch made. I feel like like they've paralyzed this team mentally and they've forgotten how to make plays.

Good lord, I had totally forgotten that on top of the catch and TD run that there was also a flag on TCU. Yup, throwing that pass was maybe such a BAD idea!

Must ....find...meds....need...to...sedate....myself.

Wow! CPR continues to dig himself a hole. Our best receiver is 1v1 on the sideline, and we don't think it should be thrown his way?! That was a good throw by Lanning, putting it in a spot where his guy had a chance to get it and not get intercepted. And it was an even better catch and run by Lazard.

Saturday was still far from where I'd like to see us in terms of stretching the field and taking shots. But it was certainly better than we've seen this season. Aside from Baylor, TCU, etc having talented QB's and WR's to throw to, the other reason why they score so much is because they actually stretch the D and always take shots. Even if you don't hit on all of them, just the fact you are always putting pressure on the backend of the defense is going to help the rest of your offense. Gonna be hard to sustain 10-15 play scoring drives throughout each game. You have to try to take advantage of any single coverage matchups you get.

Can't believe he said that. It's a throw a lot of qbs make when they trust their WR to come back amd make the play. 99% of the time the WR is looking back at the QB where the DB is playing chase. That's how back shoulder throws are made and caught and it happens a lot. CPR is done folks.

Sam made two or three back shoulder throw passes to Lazard the last two games. Is Paul saying Sam is allowed and Joel not allowed to throw back shoulder passes to Lazard. No wonder our team is a joke, because the coaches are losing it. Jesus Mary and Joseph.
