"probably not a ball that should have been thrown."

I thought is was a good back shoulder pass to our best receiver who then made a heck of a play to shake loose for a td.

Defending not playing Lanning afterwards.

I'm so tired of CPR. There are 10000 coaches out there that can win 3 games a year. Why not give someone else a chance to see if they can do better.

I have a feeling that CPR had a large wad of cash on the TCU game. He saw Lanning as a kind of player that might allow ISU to stay in the game and cover the spread. So he did the only logical thing and bench Lanning and allow Sam to go scoreless the next 3 quarters. CPR visits his bookie and collects the $$$

What a joke, your best WR in a mismatch with no help over the top and he doesn't want the QB to throw the ball? Explains a lot when it comes to ISU QB's in his tenure.

I thought it absolutely should have been thrown. He wasn't open a ton but he had good positioning and it was one-on-one coverage. Worse case scenario is Lanning throws a bad ball and Lazard has to play defense to stop an interception.

Only defense of CPR's comment I can think of would be if there was somebody else more open.

It's a puzzling statement. How is a QB supposed to have confidence when a TD Pass is a mistake? Texas Tech throws those Hail Mary drills that are bad ideas every time, but they trust their players.

i get what he is saying, but for crying out loud celebrate a great play don't dampen enthusiasm.

"Joel needs to think about other options instead of making that throw, we can't have fans getting the idea that we want to win football games."

Ha. You have one of the best receivers in the country and he has half a foot plus on the covering CB. But that ball shouldn't have been thrown. This statement from him reinforces that he mind ****s the QB's. He's clueless.

As I tweeted, Tech, TCU, and Baylor make that throw all game/every game with great success. We do it with great success, proceed to bench the QB the remainder of the game, and tell him it was a poor decision to throw the ball.

And you wonder why our offense, with nice talent, can't score more than 20 points a game.

Geez. No wonder we don't take advantage of our 6-5 WRs. We should be going up top to Lazard and Montgomery (And Bundrage too) whenever we get a good shot.

And that's why our offense sucks and he's going to be cashing a 4.5 million settlement check.

Heavy sigh. Did he REALLY say that? If so Rhoads is turning into a giant d-canoe. Jeez ******* ****** this is the play of the game.

Announcers were raving about the throw AND the run. Even if Rhoads thought that he shouldn't have said it. What's he trying to do, break the kids confidence and ruin him without even ****in' giving him a a quarter of playing time? What, not conservative enough? Let play it close to vest and see if we can keep it within a 30 point spread? Covering for Mangino's decision to just not play him?

ISU football is like Alice in Wonderland except Alice in Wonderland isn't as weird.

Can't believe he said that. It's a throw a lot of qbs make when they trust their WR to come back amd make the play. 99% of the time the WR is looking back at the QB where the DB is playing chase. That's how back shoulder throws are made and caught and it happens a lot. CPR is done folks.
