How is that an advantage? The Big 12 is one of the best, if not the premier conference in the country. I would have a hard time putting the little 11 in the upper tier of the major conferences.

Revenue sharing?
Big Ten Network?

I'm sure OU is fine with losing their first game. All of the more important conference games are left for them to play and win.:jimlad:

Oklahoma has a different defiintion of success than Iowa or Iowa State does. Besides, they should be fine. They've got 2 easy games coming up along with a bye week - there only potential hiccup might come against Miami. With the BCS standings not coming out for another 6 weeks or so, OU has plenty of time to right the ship.

You could have said the same thing about the Big 12 in 2004 and 2005, the North was the division that nobody wanted to win, because the team that did had the misfortune of having to play Texas or Oklahoma in the championship game. Conference strengths are cyclical. With Bradford and McCoy leaving after this year, the Big 12 might be down next year.

Chase Daniels left Missouri, how did that work out for Illinios?

Some fans need to stop acting like this is the only game of the year. The Big XII is more important.

Amen. Wins over Iowa have, and will, do nearly nothing to build our program. Success in the Big XII will.

Especially outside the message board crowd, among more casual fans for both sides this is the biggest game of the year.

This is true, and most ISU fans qualify as "casual" (this is true of fans everywhere, not just ISU). Until we have meaningful wins against teams other than Iowa for the "casual" fans to get excited about, they will never get past the Iowa obsession.

Hayden Fry said it best. "You can't win them all if you don't win the first one". In this case you can't win them all if you don't win the second one. We need to win ALL games that are winable for us. Game 2 fits that bill. This game is big.

Learning to walk before you run. We must first get respect in the state before we get any respect in the Big 12 or nationaly. That is the reason this is a big game for us. It also assuming no melt down assures us of a bowl game.

I agree with this. Why is it a win over Iowa is subsituted with a loss in a conference game. Why not win both?
