My thoughts exactly! This all ends poorly for college sports within a year
There has been a lot of talk on Twitter from some big names on NIL the last few days. Imagine burning down a product like college football, but here we are.

There are other schools/boosters that will pay anything to pluck proven players from other other programs. That is just the reality of it now.

I know there is no loyalty when it comes to coaches in college sports but how quickly that lack of loyalty was surpassed by the players.

We’ve had three guys drafted in the last 24 hrs. This is stupid.
That's great and all, but so have many other teams. There is nothing special about Iowa St that helps guys get to the pros. If you can get NIL money AND have a path to pros, who doesn't take that?

So why invest any emotion, not to mention time and money? This is going to be taking place every month, throughout the year, even during the season.

I know this sounds melodramatic and knee-jerk, but I’ve been thinking about this all week; I am quickly losing interest in college athletics. If the FB or Bball season were starting in a month, I’m not sure I’d even be watching at this point.
I root for the jersey not the individual but as I learn about the individual I start to care and root for them. With free agency for players I will unfortunately start to not care as much about the individual and thus will probably start to lose interest overall. Part of college fandom is they chose ISU like we did and the creates a bond and without that I might as well watch pro ball.

It’s horrible. I know I’m losing passion and interest for it

What if the D coordinator leaves at the school he goes to, or the head coach, or he gets recruited over at the new school?

My interest goes downhill a little bit every day.
I think that is a natural reaction and is something college athletics departments across the country are extremely concerned about. It does seem like it's going to really suck for a few years, but it just doesn't seem sustainable. The dam will break one way or another eventually. Gonna have to ride it out.

JP already is laying the talking points around dropping down a level or at least having a level below a breakaway league.

The 2A kids don't compete against the 4A kids but they are super happy to win their division.

I'm not overreacting to a singular event. My lack of interest in college athletics has been growing for a couple of years.

I went last college football season without ESPN or FS1 and had a couple of weeks where I didn't watch ball. I'll probably do it again this year
