I like Cronin a lot. Wish the Bearcats a fantastic season from here on out.

That was actually worth the watch. He had some interesting things to say. I liked his bit about how college basketball isn't like college football, where one loss can kill your entire season. Instead, a loss at this time of year is something to learn from and get better for February and March. That's something that a lot of people here should think about.

Agree. As much as I'd love to be undefeated now, I would take a loss now vs conf season. Those losses keep you from championships (Texas Tech lass, for example)

Even though his comments were fairly accurate, Cronin sure doesn't shy away from throwing his players under the bus.

I didn't think he was throwing them under the bus, sounded to me like he was holding them accountable. Difference between says "we turned it over a lot" or "so and so should've been in the middle of the floor, not along the sideline" and completely putting someone down

Caupain (sp) really impressed me in that game. However, at one point early in the game I had to look up his name as I swear the announcers were calling him cocaine.

After this game and interviews, I am extremely impressed by Cincinnati as a team. Carry themselves well. Lots of respect.

Also very impressed with Cincinnati overall. Team is solid - good defense, stud in Caupain, big guys in the middle and 2-3 other guys who can shoot. Definitely someone to keep in mind for bracket picking in March.

Also impressed with their environment. Think how many arenas ISU has played in that were dead. Cinci crowd was loud and into it. Hiltonesque and I mean that as high praise.

Great ballgame overall by both teams.

The crowd was a little late-arriving due to the early start. But yes, impressed with the environment and it made the "W" that much more meaningful. I would be a Cincy BB fan if I lived there. Or maybe Xavier :)

As much as all of us would rather be undefeated, if losing to UNI was the only way this team got in the right mindset to win @ Cincinnati, then I would take that outcome. If Cincy goes and wins the AAC, a win at their place will help more than a neutral loss to an in-state likely NIT team will hurt.

I've never understood the bargaining mentality some fans have when it comes to wins and losses. Can a win or loss effect the outcome of future games, at times I would say yes. But more often than not I think they are independent events.

More often than not, yes, but the mentality of a teenager doesn't make them independent events.

I have to admit I'm just a bit concerned about two of the big Monday games following Saturday games. The first two, vs OU & KU, happen after Saturday road games with late afternoon tips, meaning evening flights home. They are also on the 18th & 25th, one week apart. Any bumps, bruises will have little time to heal, and it's going to be a very strenuous 9 days. If they make it through that the rest will be easier.

I didn't like Cronin after that ridiculous brawl vs Xavier a few years ago. He was talking big about throwing guys off the team, ripping jerseys off players and deciding who would get the right to earn it back. Then he did nothing.

still, they are a tough team in the mold of the old Huggins team. Lots of Burtonesque guys.
