I'm glad we escaped there with a win. Cincy will be a tough out come March.

Way up there
As much as all of us would rather be undefeated, if losing to UNI was the only way this team got in the right mindset to win @ Cincinnati, then I would take that outcome. If Cincy goes and wins the AAC, a win at their place will help more than a neutral loss to an in-state likely NIT team will hurt.

I'd have traded a Cincy win for UNI lost honestly, the UNI loss looks worse now but in 2 months, when Cincy is a top 10ish type of team, the win will overshadow that loss. You gotta feel for Cincy, ISU is the worst rated team they have lost to. They would be a top 10 team now with 99% of the rest of the nations schedules.

More often than not, yes, but the mentality of a teenager doesn't make them independent events.

Dependent or independent, you can't argue the response to a win or loss is consistent with teenagers either.

Agree.

A road win against a quality team far outweighs the "damage" of a loss on a neutral court to an average team, to the tournament committee.

This is no-brainer. Assuming Cincy doesn't fall off the map.

Jon Miller thinks Iowa should be ranked ahead of them lol.

John Sears is still earnestly reminding us every chance he gets that Iowa is also receiving votes in the AP & Coaches polls. Only now, he has to say "UNI and Iowa" are also receiving votes, because UNI had more points than Iowa on Monday in both polls. :)

After this game and interviews, I am extremely impressed by Cincinnati as a team. Carry themselves well. Lots of respect.

Yep. Their arena, their crowd, their players and their coaches. Very impressive. Even their message board fans!

I've never understood the bargaining mentality some fans have when it comes to wins and losses. Can a win or loss effect the outcome of future games, at times I would say yes. But more often than not I think they are independent events.

I disagree in this case. I think ISU needed a wake up call. If they pull out a 1 pt win against UNI, i don't think they come out the way they did against Cincinnati. Just my opinion though.

Isn't Cronin the guy that got in that big fight a few years ago when they played Xavier?

Troy Caupain impressed me in that interview. That's the kind of player you want on your team.

Sears is Hassel 2.0 although I think Sears is at least a grad. It's still annoying to have to listen to a blatant Hswkeye fan not even try to hide their allegiance. We need a stronger and more knowledgeable voice in the local media than Chris Williams.

Yeah, he's a grad. So was Heidi Soliday...but you couldn't tell from her reporting. If you're going to report on sports to multiple fan bases, you need to keep your personal bias to yourself.

That's like a guy who played semi-pro baseball going up to an MLB player and talking about how they understand being a professional at the highest level.
