Nooooo...

I am firmly convinced that our fanbase is clapping impaired. They suck at clapping in time with the beat. As a person with a music background it makes me crazy!

Funny I mentioned how it takes me like 10 claps before I can get on beat to the fiance at the game last niht.

I think that section is an 'emergency' overflow for students for big games, and was sold as single game tickets for other games. For the Iowa game those rows were full of students, and I expect it to be similar for KU.

There is often a section at the top of the balcony above the visiting team bench that is saved for visiting team fans.

Well...I'll be the grumpy old man today...

Having attended games in both the non-PA-music era and blaring-PA-music era, the latter just gets really lame for me. It just seems to kill the natural crowd energy, and I actually find it distracting. But, I suppose in today's era of "long" commercial breaks, things like that are necessary to hold people's attention.

Back in the day, two courses of the school song and 30 seconds of the Hamm's Beer clap could pretty much kill a time out. The unison single-clap was pretty awesome, because pretty much everybody participated, and it was simple enough that pretty much everyone could get the timing down, regardless of their musical ability.

The clapping-out-of-time thing isn't unique to ISU. Some folks just aren't blessed with that ability. Seriously, it is really difficult for some folks, and because of that it is going to be tough to get everyone clapping on the right beat to a fast paced song.

There is a Director who is in charge of coordinating when the band plays vs laptop music, volume, when to have PA announcer talk, etc. The marketing department does have say in all this, but they have enough to coordinate during games themselves that they don't have time to nit pick the volume.

They do do read this board and also attend the games, so they are aware of the volume. Let's hope they make some changes for the Kansas game.

Sounds like you have some pull in the Ath Dept, fella... Why don't you go ahead and talk to that person and tell them to crank that music and make it defeaning loud.

According to Holly Rowe, Hilton was at 108 decibels last night. KU the loudest this year at 113 decibels. Sounds like a challenge for next Monday...

110 decibels is considered the human pain threshold. May want to bring earplugs for the little ones ;)

My wife got mad at me for yelling and slamming the coffee table after Matt made the 3 that gave us the 10-point lead. The dog jumped up and started barking, too. Just trying to do my part............

OMG I can't stop laughing! This sounds EXACTLY like my house but the dog is usually scared Sh**less and runs under the bed!!

A guy I know worked in Hilton last year during the KU game. He said President Leath's wife complained about the volume of our music and PA system and since then it has been turned way down. I went to the game with this guy last night and he was telling me about it because he was upset it was still turned down so much this year.

No Offense to Leath's wife, but welcome to Hilton. Tell her to bring ear plugs.
Now turn it back up.

Challenge accepted. Our passion to beat KU is unmatched by our passion for other games.
We can break that record and we will.

They boo alot but we boo better because we are Iowa State and are better by right of birth (or something!).

Kansas must be destroyed and noise is part of the destruction package.

Wow. That may trump anything Leath has done to hack off fans. Hope it isn't true. And if true, I hope she sees the error of her ways. It's not wise to fool with Hilton Magic.
