Nobody cares about basketball in the SEC? Ever heard of a program called the Kentucky Wildcats? Avery Johnson is doing a good job at Alabama and will make them a solid squad, then there's Frank Martin, who is a good coach at South Carolina. I wouldn't go as far to say that nobody cares about basketball in the SEC. It's definitely on the upswing and Kentucky is one of the most successful basketball schools ever.
Nobody cares about Broom Ball in the Big 12? Ever heard of Iowa State???...

Considering the Bulls' meltdown, he might need to adjust his expectations.

He already used his shortcut on the ladder in Ames, after all.

Not saying he's going to a small private school, but that might discount him a little.
Fred will be going to Kentucky when Calipari sets sail from there. Fred will enjoy recruiting much more when the best recruits come to him and he doesn't have to go to them...
...and no, I don't believe any of this...but who needs sources anymore. Just throw it out there and see what sticks.

I was actually more worried UL or UK calls Prohm.

I mean... it makes sense as a fit. Terrible, terrible sense.

I think Prohm has too strong of ethics to work at those schools. They are both great BB jobs (Kentucky more so), but I think they both operate on a sliding scale of ethics and I think Prohm has his values and won't stray too far from them. If either school would let him instill his values, I could see him going. Just my 2 cents worth.

If he becomes a coach that is good enough for those schools that would mean good things are in store if ISU. Yes those jobs coming open would worry many fans, but IDK if he has a big enough personality for those jobs.

3 to 5 million dollars a year can often buy a lot of ethics.

Never heard of this Kentucky program or Frank Martin even though I met him once.

You ever watch one of their lower tier games on the SEC network? Besides Kentucky that confernce has the most pathetic fan base of the Power 6 conferences by far.

This is true. Living in Nashville I was able to hang around the SEC tournament and 80% of the fans were supporting Kentucky. There just isn't much support for the other schools unless they are very very good.

I find it hilarious how Mizzou got dragged down after they joined the SEC.

Ha! They have'nt even sniffed the tourney yet in three years with Pearl. Some bio written a year ago about how Auburn is now at 85% capacity at home games doesn't prove the SEC has rabid fan bases in basketball.

Ha. ...no guarantee ISU will sniff the tourney for three years post-Monte, Matt, Burton ect.
Pearl has a .725 lifetime winning record @ 22 years? I would be very disappointed as well with 85% capacity.........but then again there's not a damn thing to do in Iowa in January.

To go along with controversy just about everywhere he's been (even as an assistant) and a show-cause penalty from his time in Tennessee. He's a helluva coach but he drags around as much baggage as just about anybody (so of course the networks love him just like Cal, and give him all kinds of free pub.) I'd say he's a very good fit for the SEC.
