I don't think Sledge should be discussed as a draft pick when he hasn't even played a game of college ball yet. It is not like he is Derrick Rose or Kevin Durrant. Look how good DG did this year and he couldn't get drafted.

I would say White probably has the most pro-potential on the team, if Allen has improved his PG guard skills then he could be a solid second round pick. Babb's height makes him a fit for the two guard in the NBA but he will have to show a lot more than he did at Penn State. If McGee can play the point well and can continue to shoot a high percentage from three he might have a chance of getting drafted.

This conversation should begin and end with White. And he's going to need to play 4 in the NBA, he's already too big to defend NBA 3's.

I think it hurts some of these players NBA draft status because they play for Iowa State. If they would have stayed at there schools they would be drafted no doubt

Iowa State has produced more draft pick than majority of teams in Big 12 since 1990? I believe we are ranked after KU and Texas.

uh, no it doesnt... same with any draft... they dont care who you play for. shoot in the NBA they dont even care if your 30 and say your 21 and theyve never seen you play... they will draft you.

Did you really say Sledge? He is 5'8". no way a guy that small gets drafted unless he shows stardom which will be rare for a guy without a jump shot
Im 5'9" and stood by Sledge at the CCL and he a legit 5'9" not that one inch is that much in the real world but it makes a big difference in the world of basketball, he also looks to have at least a 6 foot wing spand and that will help too. He can jump out of the gym, can pass like well a New York City point guard and that wont hurt his chances at all, and the guy is lightning quick. Sound to me like he is a faster version of Nate Robinson and I think Nate has had a pretty good career thus far dont ya think?

I agree about White and Clyburn. Not so sure about Allen. He is simply to small to play the two in the NBA. I'm guessing some teams might take a look at him as a free agent but unless he shows a sudden affinity with the PG position next year, my guess is that he ends up playing Euro-ball.

Allen is not to small for the 2 in the NBA hes 6'3". Take a look at Eric Gordon, Stephen Curry, Jason Terry and Nate Robinson are all 6'3" or shorter. They may be more of combo gaurds than 2 but thats what Allen would be to. Then theres Wade, Redick, Mayo, Barbosa, and Ellington are all only 6'4". You dont have to be 6'6" or taller to play the 2 in the NBA. I think Allen has a good chance if he has a good season like a lot of people think he will. And he was in the draft talks before he left MSU.

I'll play devil's advocate and go along with your argument, although you supported it like a 10 year old.

Exposure can be the linchpin in getting a shot at the league. Look at Kenneth Faried out of Morehead State. You can't convince me that he gets drafted at 21 without the exposure he got in the NCAA Tournament. Without Morehead's inexplicable mini-run (jacked up 99.9% of the world's brackets!), they'd glance at his measurables and scoff at the thought of sticking him at power forward.

Another example is almost any player ever drafted that went to Duke. They're typically smart system players that get airtime others with more NBA-worthy games don't. As a particularly supportive example, Shelden Williams went fifth in the '06 draft. In the same draft Paul Millsap went 47 overall. If these two switched the names on their college jerseys, they'd see comparable switches in their draft positions.

Of course, these are exceptions to the rule. NBA scouts generally do a good job in identifying talent regardless of a kid's pedigree. But you can't say that exposure - or lack thereof - doesn't matter.

Kenneth Faried was being projected as a 1st rounder and a possible lottery pick in January and February. Now did the NCAA run Morehead St made help him? Obviously it didn't hurt. But he was a known name before the tournament, just not to the majority of fans.

It never hurts to have Duke or Kentucky on the front of your jersey, but if you have skills, NBA scouts will find you.

100% disagree with you...this is so far from the truth its not even funny....

Like another poster indicated, these guys are signing multi-million dollar deals, this is not a "hey i dont like that university thing" those guys end up being fired in short order.....

Did you even watch this years draft - half are playing for european leagues that have teams in those leagues that the capital city league teams could beat....

You play well and fit the mold, you will get your shot....

That said, i cannot believe that nobody reached on Garrett he was the 2 highest rated player the final 10 picks.....he will get his shot!!!!

We truly are a bunch of homers... There are only 60 players selected in the draft and there are over 300 D1 basketball schools. Also we haven't had a winning record in many seasons let alone played any tourney games. Yet some still think that over a third of our players are NBA caliber....

Its a bad thing that we think our players are good? Would you rather us think they all suck?
