Not really.
Six losses is a lot when pre conference you were 11-1. Since conference started 6-5. Not figuring out to handle Baylor will be our undoing. Winning six more in conference would be amazing. Eight would be off the charts.

I agree. Much more likely we finish the conference season 4-4 than that happening. I'll predict 5-3 if we can win tonight.

Might "winning out" also mean "peaking too early?"

The bad thing to me is we play everyone accept OU 1 more time. I think OU is the team to beat and all we can do with them is keep winning and pray they lose....

If it's not us, I'll be pulling for Oklahoma and WV the rest of the year. Because **** Kansas.

Boy, those 2 giveaway huge lead home losses sting extra bad upon seeing that chart after tonight's KU/WVU game.

I remember having a similar conversation last year about Baylor and the TTech loss. I'm still trying to figure out if this is a Hoiberg thing that he installed in this team, or if it's just he make up of most of these guys. I have no doubt on any given night, they could beat anyone in the country. On that same note though, they could lose to anyone as well. And this has been pretty much the way this team has been from the start.

Just seems like when they get a good lead, they start to lose focus and don't play the same game that got them that lead. In their effort to put the game away fast, they usually let the other team right back in.

Nobody is winning this league with two home losses. Any glimmer of hope was lost with the WVU game. Sorry.

Nah..we are in just starting phase 3 of the Prohm season...Phase one was first 8-9 games or so with Naz..team was rolling mostly and had deoth and looked alright...phase 2 was last 10-11 games or so adjusting without Naz and McKay situation...now we are into the final run..our last 11+ games possibly including tourneys. It's this phase you want to really see start playing your best...

Look at a certain other team and they've been in Phase 2 since right after ISU game. What is hard is maintaining that level of play for 20+ games...

If we win tonight, I think 6-2 over last eight is more likely. I would bet anyone that we win at least one of the Baylor, WVU, KU road games and will bank on us winning out at home. If we lose tonight, I have no clue what we do

To me, this team seems to know their back is against the wall when they hit the road. They know who are the perceived upper end teams when they come to Hilton (KU and OU). What happens is when teams in the perceived middle of the pack come to Hilton, and we just assume we are going to win. I dont think we will have an issue with TT tonight, but if this mentality holds true, we could lose to Texas on Saturday. Hopefully they are over this line of thinking, and already losing to Texas once this season wakes them up. Last year the Baylor home loss cost us a share of the title, and the Tech loss cost us the title outright. This year we are going to be looking at two home loses that cost us, one to a Baylor team that is not good.

I think it's all part of being a team that thrives on offense. It was built for offense, and we are very, very talented in that respect. We are learning to use that more intelligently while expending more of our energy on the defensive end. Hopefully it all sinks in by tournament time.

Also, losing Naz has been a big factor, and the struggles of Jameel. I don't think you can discount those two things, and they are big, big things to overcome in the course of a season, even for a really talented team.

I can't believe we beat Baylor at home, who we were handling easily at halftime, and we're in freaking first place.

Beat WVU at home, who we were also handling at halftime, and we're tied for first with one less team.

Just enjoy the ride, these seniors, and hope we make some noise in KC and the big tourney.

People hanging on to ISU winning the conference are just setting themselves up for hurt. Ain't happening.

I dont think anyone is hanging on to ISU winning the conference. I think people are just pointing out that its possible if a lot of things go our way.

Yep. I'm not "handing on" to it, but as long as it is still possible, I'm hoping it happens. And if we win the Big 12 season championship, it means that we are playing some great BB . . . such as good enough to win at AFH.

If we win out, we'll win the league, or at least a share. I just can't see anyone ending with only three losses. Wouldn't surprise me if the champ has 5 losses.

OU still plays:
vs. KU
@ WVU
@ UT
vs. BU

KU still plays:
@ OU
@ KSU (rivalry)
@ BU
@ UT
vs. ISU

WVU still plays:
@ UT
vs. OU
vs. ISU
@ BU

I think 13-5 wins a share and I do think at least two teams will be sharing the title. I wouldn't be shocked, if ISU plays well down the stretch, that both ISU and KU are 12-5 going into the last game of the season at the Phog and the winner gets a share of the title with OU or WVU while the loser finishes in 4th.

Last year I might agree with you. But this year, our margin for error in winning is so much smaller. Bench production is basically just to give minutes. I swear in some of the games coming down to the wire, we were playing on fumes. While that WV game still bugs the heck out of me, (especially free throws/rebounding) overall, I think they've done admirably well. Last possession road losses at OU and Texas don't indicate lack of focus. Otherwise they've taken care of business on the road. The 'what if' game can be played by most teams. What if Latin makes one free throw in regulation and OU wins at KU? Or they don't get the buzzer beating tip in and have to play WV in overtime?

So is KU losing to OSU by 20 a "Bill Self thing"? JFC...sometimes you lose, sometimes it's because you played bad, sometimes its because the other team played well, usually it's a combination of both. Everything doesn't have to be about a team's culture and "behind the scenes" things.
