Cutler is a major upgrade over Orton or Grossman. That's all that matters.

Definitely. I'm all for a quarterback with a little attitude, also. The Bears offense needs some attitude. Now go and get Tori Holt and life will be pretty cool...

Heard Ditka interviewed today and he liked the trade ... no way trading your a lot of draft picks for 1 guy could ever fail ... ever.

Two first rounders and a back up qb on a lot of teams for a 10 year pro bowl caliber qb. Why not? Cutler, Forte, Olsen and Hester can attack the field in a lot of ways. Not to mention the defense will look a lot better when they can drive the ball regularly.

Oh the Vikings fans didn't want him now, sure dummies.
By the way that viking horn noise is almost as ******** as the lion growl in detroit games. Keep that Disney crap at your big mall with 7 Gap stores.

I agree. I'm not sure I would have wanted the Vikings to beat that offer for him.
Would you rather have a 25 year old franchise quarterback that immediately makes you a contender or two draft picks that will probably turn out to be solid but not spectacular players (playing the percentages) and a fill in qb?

YES!!!! Bears pull a fast one and got Cutler from Denver.

you can have that whiny B*tch!

Anybody remember the pictures of Orton getting hammered in Iowa City? Let's just say that Cutler has earned a reputation of partying more than his share here in Denver.

No doubt, the Bears are built to win now. The D is still good, but beginning to age a bit. But with an O, that can move the ball consistently, our D can begin to be dominant again. Once more, with Cutler there I think Forte can be a Pro-Bowl RB. I'm psyched we got a proven QB (funny those who lost out seem to leave out he is a returning Pro-Bowler) that's only 25 years old.

Lets see what was a better deal

Bears - Cutler and losses 2 first rounders (2009 and one in 2010) and a 3rd rounder in 2009

Kansas City - get Cassel (Who the Broncos are pissed for not getting, do not deny that Bronco fans) AND Vrabel a proven player for what a 2nd round pick....And thats all.

Hmmm Bears got hasty way to hasty to get Cutler, Maybe he will work out, but right now this deal favors the Broncos two fold

and since evryone misses this....

Hah - I see the Bears fans have taken over this thread and are declaring victory already. :) If you're a cubs fan & an isu fan too - you should know better than that, shouldn't you?

Regardless, I think this will be a good trade for both sides. I DO think it's good for the bears to finally make a move on a franchise QB b/c they're well overdue on that front. Good luck to the Bears except when they're playing the Vikes (sorry - gotta support the local team and I just want Sage to succeed more than anything).

The only thing I would worry about if I was a Bears fan would be the fact that you probably won't be able to fill many holes or add much depth with quality draft choices for a couple years, so the team they've got is pretty much the team they've got, so they better stay healthy. They probably should have gotten T.O. while they had the chance too b/c Cutler doesn't have Mr. Marshall at his disposal anymore. I can see Hester working out pretty well as an Eddie Royal type, but you need another big threat on the other side. Luckily they've got Ohlson (sp?) to go to @ TE b/c he's a good young player that will likely be Cutler's favorite target.

As a Broncos fan, I'll admit that I've always been behind Cutler & am a little disappointed to see him go (he is a good player), but I also have a little bit of relief b/c I think it'll be better for McDaniels to start with a clean slate. The last thing he needs to worry about is having a sensitive relationship with his QB as a new HC and especially as an offensive guru. It's definitely a bold move on Josh's part, but you gotta admit that he's got everyone's attention now and will probably have guys competing at a high-level to keep their jobs (my wishful thinking).

Good luck to the Bears, Vikes & Broncos next season. It should be interesting & fun to watch.

ESPN Cowherd said that he heard Cutler has drinking issues

I was listening to ESPN radio this morning before the trade and he said Cutler's long term health is a concern to teams, because of diabetes and he also implied he has a big drinking issue. He said this partying issue was well known around the league, he even implied that Cutler had done something at the Pro-Bowl this year party wise that was just crazy..... he said outrageous or something. He did say he like Cutler though, and thought he was a great QB.

They better find a few receivers for him to throw to or he'll be running for his life.

I've heard this a lot since last season. The perception was the Bears offensive line was horrible. When in reality it wasn't.

They gave up 29 sacks which was the 13th fewest in the league. Forte averaged 3.9 per rush which is respectable.

They weren't world beaters, but the OL was serviceable. They also signed Orlando Pace at OT and have a healthy Chris Williams this year.

I am going to deny that I would much rather have Orton than Cassell. I am also going to say atleast 50% of bronco fans didnt want Cassell. Unless you mean Mcdaniels as the Broncos, then only some wanted Cassell.

As an outsider sticking his nose into this thread, I think both teams will benefit - the Bears with a quality QB (although far from being considered the best), the Broncos with draft picks.

That being said, anyone who thinks that the Bears are a lock to win their division/conference next year or for the next couple of years had better think again. Yes, the Bears have a running game, but if that's all that mattered they might as well have kept Orton (or even signed me for league minimum) - any tool can hand the ball off to a stud RB. Where a QB makes his money is throwing the ball and leading the team. While throwing the ball isn't an issue with Cutler, he has virtually no one capable of catching the ball, and even if he did, he might not be standing up long enough, or at the very least sticking around the pocket long enough, to find those receivers to throw to, because the O-line is pretty pathetic too. Not to mention that the Bears' defense is aging. Yes, in comparison, the Ravens' defense is aging too, but while their defense is aging like a fine wine, it appears the Bears' defense is aging like warm beer - they were 21st in overall defense last year while the Ravens were #2. As far as Cutler being a team leader, I think he's far from proving he's capable of being one.

So while I think this was the appropriate move for the Bears, and that you build the offense around the QB, keep one thing in mind - Cutler is not going to be the one piece that brings the Bears to the promised land. While they've solved their QB issue, QB was far from being their only issue, and they haven't really taken steps to address the others.

Cutler may have gotten his wish, but with no Brandon Marshall to throw to in Chicago, he may think differently later. i think it's a good deal for both teams. Denver can build for the future. Chicago basically only gave up 1 1st rd pick, because Cutler and this year's pick are a wash in my opinion.
