Being from the Iowa City area, I had to plan ours around ISU and Iowa. Iowa was off and ISU was in Stillwater for THE night game we all remember I'm sure. This was of course 10/14/2000, we listened to the game in the hot tub on our wedding night. It was the only way I would agree to getting married in the fall as we originally had planned a spring wedding.

I had another friend that had his wedding on Sept. 15th of 2001, and you all know how that went. Since the game was cancelled, I ended up going to his wedding. During the dismissal of the congregation she had the gall to say in that tone, "I wonder why you guys could make it...". My buddy scheduled it on that day because it was the only Saturday he could reserve the church or reception location. Well duh, 'cause nobody wants to go to a wedding on the Iowa vs. ISU day.

One other great night game, ISU v Iowa wedding story was the Comeback, and the first time I missed this game in the last 12 years. At two weddings in KC, one was loaded with Iowa fans and UNI/Iowa fans. When the wedding let out, Iowa was up and by the time the reception started, I was on cloud nine.

So, to stay with the thread and not derail this conversation, KSU game at night in early fall, I love it!!!

I love Saturday night games. They mean I actually get to go tailgate for a while! Would you believe that I've only been tailgating before a football game once in my life? (It was a good one, too- November game with a bunch of CFers last year...)

You can pretty much count on it for as long as JP is here. A Thursday night game before Labor Day weekend helps ensure that the students can show up in full force but still go home for the long weekend. (YES, people go home for that weekend. Silly as it may be, lots of folks do it. We have to roll with that.) A Saturday game would have a half-empty stadium and a totally empty student section.

Then, the next home game will probably always be a night game as well, barring TV networks telling us otherwise. That gives the people who couldn't make it to the first game (or couldn't make it early enough to tailgate) a good night game atmosphere. You can pretty much count on those first two home games being played at night.

I know you mean well but it's Labor Day weekend. :wideeyed:

My wife's friend was getting married that day so I couldn't make it....

I was wishing hard that they wouldn't end up getting married this fall....

My wishes came true.. now I feel kind of guilty. Eh I'm over it.
