Cytown Update

It's annoying that the AD has to waste time and resources presenting and getting approval from a board of regents that only meets twice a year. Meanwhile places like Texas Tech have their own personal BOR with their billionaire donors on it lol.

Looked up the BOR for giggles, ISU actually has the biggest representation with 3 alums. ZERO from Iowa (lol) the rest graduated from Loras, Drake, Virginia and K-state, and one student rep from UNI....

Why is thhe board not a majority alumni of Iowa's public universities? Surely that should be the goal right? At least we have 3 on there I guess that's good. Seems like they approve everything anyways, just seems like a waste of time.
Under state law, one of the regents must be a student of one of the three public universities, and no more than five members can be of the same political affiliation or gender. There is no rule regarding where the regents graduated from. They also meet 8 times per year, not 2.

You're not wrong about the make up and politics but they do meet 6 times a year so the longest theoretical wait is 7 or 8 weeks.

A $200 million dollar project is going to have various delays, surprises, adjustments, while dealing with a private individual investors/developers that are seasoned.

Throw in a university, a Board of Regents, and the land-lease situation, I am actually surprised it is moving as fast as it has.
Ultimately I don’t think it is moving slow but Pollard had said they would stay breaking ground this Spring. I think they are just back to on schedule instead of early.

Or really, people not understanding how things work. They act like this is as easy as getting a permit to do work on your house (even that can be a pain). But there are multiple more layers to the commercial/government building process.
But I built my shed in a weekend! And I worked construction during summer breaks 20 years ago! I know how easy this is, and the fact it isnt already done is a HUGE red flag!!!

You mean to tell me that people with no information being loud on social media criticizing this might have been incorrect with their loud criticisms?
