I had a root canal a few months ago. Now I'm having a terrible toothache in the area of that tooth. Is this bad news? I've heard if the root canal fails they yank it. Is that true?

Does that tooth or any near it stick up higher than the rest?

I believe that's true that if it doesn't work they could have to pull it. I've never had one but have had plenty of work done on one tooth and I feel ya. Hope everything works out for ya and you dont look like this guy

Hmm. Sometimes if a tooth is getting too much action when chewing it will cause that. I avoided a root canal with that issue. I hope its not an infection.

I just lost a root canal tooth. In the process of getting a dental implant. Whole thing sucks donkey schlong.

That's what I got about two years ago (implant). That might have been the worst procedure of my life..

Due to college, alcohol, and a bicycle, I had to get a couple of implants a few years back. Add in bone grafts, veneers, bridges, etc. The bone grafts and implants are pretty rough.

It is where you lose a tooth and they pretty much put a rod into your bone that sticks out a bit. Then they put a fake tooth on that rod.

That sounds awful. Bet that takes a bit of time to heal.

the best part is when there isn't enough bone there to support the implant, and they have to graft bone from another part of your jaw prior to putting in the implant... it's a great time

They had to do that for mine but they didn't take it from my jaw. Instead they used some sort of paste made from powdered bovine bone. Once cured, it is supposedly pretty much the same as new bone. Really weird tho when they tell you they are injecting cow bone paste in your jaw.

From the time of my accident to the final procedure, it was over a year's worth of surgeries and procedures to complete everything. There were a lot of classes during that time where I was high as a kite on Vicodin.

Ahh, memories. And do you know how hard it is to not **** with stitches that are in the roof of your mouth? The entire time that they are in there you pretty much have to conciously think "Don't flick them with your tongue. Don't flick them with your tongue."

Your tooth itself shouldn't hurt if you've had a root canal, because the nerve should be removed so there shouldn't be any nerve endings to receive pain. Is it the tooth or the gum area? Is it possible there is an infection? And, have you had the root canal tooth crowned yet?

As long as were talkin tooth procedures, i have had two jaw surgeries were they broke my jaw and moved it around for tooth straightening, along with two bonegraphs from my hip (for the jaw surgeries). I have had around ten teeth pulled in my life (mostly baby, 2 adult due to extra teeth)

Still have two of my wisdom teeth to go (they pulled the bottom during one of my surgeries)
Also had a related nasal surgery.

All these stem from a cleft lip...
