Yeah, the tooth was crowned shortly after the procedure in March or April.Your tooth itself shouldn't hurt if you've had a root canal, because the nerve should be removed so there shouldn't be any nerve endings to receive pain. Is it the tooth or the gum area? Is it possible there is an infection? And, have you had the root canal tooth crowned yet?
I had a root canal a few months ago. Now I'm having a terrible toothache in the area of that tooth. Is this bad news? I've heard if the root canal fails they yank it. Is that true?

So, just got back from the dentist. The x-ray showed a canal that wasn't sealed properly, whatever the hell that means. Anyway, the dentist says he can fix it, but my dental insurance has maxed out for 2010, so I've been given an ample supply of pain meds to get me through the rest of the year.

Not sure if there's any way to tell if it was his mistake or not. I like the guy and he's always taken good care of me before now so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. He didn't charge me anything for today's appointment so that was nice. That sucks... wonder if there is any kind of warranty on the messed up root canal procedure? You paid him well for it and he messed up, if the world was fair he'd have to fix his mistake.
From my understanding of the procedure, they cut into the back of your tooth and make a "door" into your root so they can remove the root. I would imagine that not being sealed means that the "door" was not put back into place correctly.Yeah, the tooth was crowned shortly after the procedure in March or April.
