If Vaughn would decommit/commit we'd have to make sure he was (reasonably) clean.

Re: Big News FRom Nevada

Hmm... Of course, we don't have a position open for RV's handler, so not sure there is any potential here.

I believe the custodian at Beyer Hall just retired so he may take that position as it fits his skill set. I've posted before that if RV sees how well we're doing in the tourney (esp. now without Niang), he can still de-commit as signing day isn't until April 16, after the tourney is over. If the coach leaves, I can see RV committing to ISU. I have no doubt Fred would take him in a heartbeat.

I imagine this is part of a re-negotiating process with UNLV but if not and you're a high profile recruit that just committed based on your "life long" friend getting you placed in the the best school for you and now that is thrown out the window, how do you feel about your "life long" friend?

Dave Rice could be pulling what I would call a Greg McDermott. A Greg McDermott is when you coach a team and underachieve for multiple years then leave that school before they can fire you.

I'm sorry but Steve Alford has perfected it and look at him now. I never thought he would be successful at another D1 school.

Would LOL if sanctions coming to UNLV

Saw a tweet from I don't remember who but they said they could see a sketchy Pete Carroll (USC) or Chip Kelly (Oregon) type departure from UNLV coming for Dave Rice.

Translation: some sketchy stuff is happening at UNLV right now and Dave Rice wants to leave before he gets caught.

Adam Zagoria is reporting via "sources" that IF Rice goes to USF, then one of UNLV's other big recruits, Dwayne Morgan, would ask for a release and go elsewhere. Would think Morgan backing out would hit RV pretty hard. That incoming class was huge for UNLV in getting RV.

I don't think RV will come, however I'd only take him here if an investigation proves they're "clean" with the UNLV/Findley Prep junk. (I don't think they're clean.)

Did he already sign last fall? RV committed but hasn't signed yet as the spring signing period isn't until April

First, don't be dumb people. RV is a kid who is a potential NBA 1st rounder in a year or two. Second, if this whole thing goes down and Rice leaves I can see Dwayne Morgan asking out of his LOI and I highly doubt RV stays if Morgan leaves along with basically no on returning for UNLV. Three, CFH has two schoolies open correct? just saying...

To answer the questions about signing, no, I don't believe a recruit can sign until the signing period starts. There was an early signing period, but that was over before Vaughn verbally committed.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly certain recruits can't just sign at any time. It has to be during signing period.

He is still the missing piece from us being a top 10 team going into next year. I don't care what happened in the past, I'd welcome him with open arms.
