F*** Yes! The Carr legacy has a chance to not only remain, but grow! The sky is the limit for this kid. Hopefully other recruits see this and join in the climb to the top. Carr is a great center piece.

I always always saw him in the teens, so I don’t think 6 is right. Meeks only had success in 3a Iowa . He would not have won as many if he had to wrestle Wolfensberger the first few years:

He was #5 overall p4p according to d1wrestling.net that year - he was #2 138 lbr in the country according to flo and intermat - not sure about overall p4p from those two services

What other recruits do we realistically have a shot at for this class? I've heard Aaron Brooks' name thrown around, but how likely is it we actually get him? Any other names people are hearing?

Aaron Brooks is most likely going to the OTC, but he would be as big of a recruit as Carr

Aaron Cashman was on campus last weekend (rated #4 at 120lbs - 2 spots higher than Teske) but I dont know of his actual interest level. He would be a huge get too. We are also in it for Jake Silverstein and Grant Stotts - both are top 100 kids

I know that intermat had him in the 10 -25 region. Also iawrestle thought Clark was the better in state prospect. They were right on that. Honestly, McCauley was the last wrestler with close to this wrestling profile. I think Carr will be going for a 5th title this year, and with his Cadet and freestyle credentials, he is the best recruit we have had since pre Jackson era.

Just curious but can we change the thread title to "David Carr chooses ISU" versus "Top 5"? Or maybe we should start a new thread for congratulations. Just my 2 cents.

This is great news and I am so excited to get my oldest boy to a couple meets. Just a question, do we think he will redshirt his freshmen year, I know we lack depth at 165 & 174. Great day to be a Cyclone Wrestling fan!

I would guess Carr would wrestle right away as talented as he is.

I would be surprised if he does wrestle as a true freshmen. Not that he isn't talented enough but he could use a little more polishing. He will probably start out at 157 and eventually may end up at 165. Doubt if he ever wrestles 174 like some publications are suggesting. BTW, Gomez would have been ranked as high last season but went up a weight or two and competed at 138 and lost to an wrestler from MN that hurt his final ranking.
