Think it's possible the staff has another surprise in store for next Saturday? As much as I hated the uniforms of the late 90s, it would be fitting to don them in honor of the Davis brothers. Or perhaps we at least roll with red helmets, red jerseys, white pants? Hopefully the brothers will be rocking #28 jerseys for the day.

Someone in another thread something like how we have two more secret uniforms this season. I don't really believe it unless they meant uniform combinations like white/red/white or red/red/red.

Troy will probably be wearing his TD hall of fame shirt. His family made a whole bunch and they sale them. I wouldn't mind seeing late 90's throwbacks for this occasion.

I hope they do that too.

This player reaction to the "storm grey" (or "anthracite" : ) unis last week was good:

ISU's unis are still some of the worst in P5 and possibly even all of D1 football. And worse than a few FCS schools too. They're also about 5-10 years behind on alternate options/throwbacks on top of the fact ISU is making chump change in their uniform deal. It's really disappointing to say the least.

It's sad that concept/fan mockups on Google image search are 1000 times better than what ISU gets/wears.

Another day, another ignorant post by Erik.

Go find a national analysis of uniforms that thinks ours are good. Athlon, CBS, ESPN, etc. all seem to think ours are definitely in the bottom half of the Big 12 and most have us 9th only behind KU.

I love ISU, but some of you need to get out of the "everything ISU does is awesome" groupthink. No one outside of Ames/ISU fanbase thinks we have good football uniforms. They are definitely not anywhere near the top half of our own league or D1. And a football program with not a lot of good history like ISU NEEDS to have jerseys worth at least a little national love, not just local.

It's all personal preference of course, and I thought the grays were decent, the white looked better than what we've had previously, but I think we still need better. Cyclone fans will have love, but no recruit is being WOWED by our jersey options compared to most that we are recruiting against.

There's a LOT of good ISU concepts out there on the interwebs, it's just unfortunate our program hasn't made them a reality (outside of the no longer mythical white helment.) That helmet is nice btw. I'd love to see something other than the I-State sometime, i.e. a nice glossy Walking Cy.

And yet, they will rank USC's high. Strange. It's almost like those rankings have little to do wih the uniform and more to do with the success of the program. Weird, right?

ISU did not have a Uniform Design curriculum/degree when I graduated from there 50 years ago. It appears we've had many graduates of such a program in that time. What a waste.

Uniform rankings are a joke. B12 rankings always have Texas and Oklahoma at the top.

"Can't beat the classic burnt orange, theres a reason why this is the most recognized uniform in the nation"
"The ol cream and red of Oklahoma really gets me standing at attention if you know what I mean."

I challenge you to find a B12 uniform ranking that doesn't have one of those two sentences.

The @CycloneEQUIP Twitter page shows the standard helmet and jersey, but I would be curious to see that with the white pants. I'm not sure it would work because there is no white in the jersey, not even an outline.

I agree, and I would also say that TX and OU have seriously boring/ugly uniforms. Classic, easy to recognize, yes, but is that what we are looking for? Maybe ISU would be more recognizable/better if their games were not played at weird times on obscure TV networks??

Win some games and the uniforms will suddenly look a lot better.

I'd love for someone to argue how our jerseys are great/better/the best like some of you claim they are rather than just bash me for the opinion that matches national opinion that they are not very good. (however bias it may be, you all need to realize your Cyclone bias as well.)

I just know in my heart our jerseys aren't very great and I'd like to see us with better ones. If you all believe these are the best jerseys and we can't do better, then no one (however how many) will convince you against their greatness. I understand the winning perception train of thought, but ISU doesn't have the winning history of Texas/OU and never will. So we need to have standout jerseys to lure players/recruits. I refuse to believe that if we started winning 10+ games a year that all of a sudden the nation would believe our current jerseys are better than Texas/OU/etc even if they also became perennial losers.

In one of the pics there's some gray stuff hanging with the red jersey but I'm thinking those are girdles and not actual pants. Would be interesting to see red jersey/gray pants.

I think you're taking this a little to seriously, but to each their own. Whether someone likes a uniform or not is subjective, not science. Personally I love our uniforms and it's not just because of my "Cyclone bias" as I HATED the uniforms we wore before these. Ultimately though, I don't really give a **** as uniforms do not have the power to alter my enjoyment of following ISU football.
