This from today's Register...

"Redshirt freshman Stephon Dale, 19, has returned to the team after a one-game suspension for being charged with drunken driving last summer.
He returns behind defensive end Shawn Moorehead on the depth chart."

Will be nice to have more depth on the D-line. Hopefully he's ready to step in and provide some quality play. The line will definitely have to apply lots of pressure on Hines this Sat. in order to disrupt him and their passing game.

I hope Mac's right in that ISU will be greatly improved from week 1 to week 2...

Yeah, hopefully Dale can stir things up against UNLV's line. As far as defensive improvement, look what the week between Ill. St. and Iowa did last year. I'm not saying that we're going to have THAT good of a defensive performance, but I think we'll improve signifigantly over Toledo.

We need to shore up 2 things on D. Getting any kind of penetration on the D line, and defending the pass in the middle of the field, maily our safety play. It looks like well get a decent challenge for our pass D this week.

More Rashawn Parker up the middle please.

Agreed. I watched the Mediacom replay of the game last night (the shortened version with Walters dubbed over), and Parker was a beast when he was unleashed to rush the QB. He was unstoppable. More of that, please.

excellent news for the depth chart. At 6'3 255, he has decent size, so hope he has speed to match.

Regarding Parker.... my god think what kind of terror he was on the field 12 months ago... against HIGH SCHOOLERS.

Why isn't anyone talking about an unexpected player on the team roster named Bridger Dutton from Texas? He is listed as a DL at 6' 1'' and 260 lbs and the son of former Nebraska and Dallas Cowboy DL star John Dutton. Doubt he is on scholarship but I like the odds of him becoming a player who could fill the void left when new DL recruit John Richardson left camp after only 3 days and returned to Texas.

I haven't watched a replay, but was safety play the reason for our poor pass defense?

My impression Toledo was able to complete so many short passes was because:
1) Our D-line didn't get much pressure up the middle.
2) The defensive scheme designed by John Skladany had the LB's drop back around 10 yards.

Maybe I missed something, but I don't think the blame falls on players.
