Possible, but unlikely because he runs a 3-3-5 defense and Rhoads said we will be running a 4-3.

Well if we hired him, there'd be a lot of confusion as to who PR is.

..although I guess we could refer to him as Paul R... wait..

I remember that as well, and appreciate you pointing this out. The fact that Tulsa is now running a 3-3-5 does not preclude the fact that he can coach a 4-3.
You may have the stronger point, however.
My interest stems from the fact that we have not heard anything about a DC to this point, and as Aclone pointed out, they have a game this evening, he is a fine recruiter in Texas, and was part of a very strong 4-3 defense at Alabama.

I probably don't know what I am talking about, but it wouldn't be the first time.

That'd suck for Tulsa and they can blame Auburn. They stole Chiz from us and then he stole their OC. We were forced to hire a new guy who steals their DC.

Sucks to be them!

I had the same thought!
This is another reason that I think this could be our DC hire. I think that the OC was certainly on Rhoads radar, (but we know what transpired) and their program in general.

On a side note, a 3-3-5 might work really good against the big 12... we have a weak d-line and better numbers in the secondary

How about Tulsa's other DC, Keith Patterson. He also oversaw the secondary this year, but the previous year he took care of LB's. We still don't have a Linebackers coach.

I looked at all of their coaches too.
My first thought was if this man had some associate head coaching responsibilities at the "Tulsa" level, he would appear to be a more desirable candidate for a DC at a Big XII level school. But I am only speculating. That is why this is all so intriguing to me.

I like it. He played 10 seasons in the CFL so he can handle the weather. He coached at Rice last year so Coach Herman would be able to recommend him.

All of you do realize that Tulsa gave up 70 points to Houston don't you?

I would do everything it takes to get **** Bumpas from TCU. His connection to Rhoads is that Bumpas coached for Johnny Majors at Tennessee at the same time that Walt Harris was there. Bumpas was a lb/d-coordinator at his stops prior to TCU. He also has experience against the spread and has had some success - see this year's bowl game holding Boise St. to 16 points.

Another interesting possibility would be a young position coach with the Ravens like Mike Pettine (initially coached at Pitt under Johnny Majors) who is currently the OLB coach. Baltimore has several connections with Pacific (Wade Harman is TE coach and is a Corydon, IA native; John Fassell played there while PR was a coach).

A couple of fine suggestions, especially Bumpas. I think he was either named the best D-line coach of the year or was a finalist for that honor. I just wonder if we would be better served with an assistant head coach with the same attributes.
Also, Klerme, if he is the guy, why don't we have him yet? Is there a bowl game or something else going on?
I agree that he would be a very good candidate.
