Wishing you all the best in fighting this. I had prostate cancer about 3 years ago that was starting to spread (PSA was at 11). I did that testosterone blocker as well (which the side effects were necessary but a b**ch nonetheless). I was given two options: surgery to remove the bladder and 3 weeks of radiation or no surgery and 6 weeks of radiation which was what I took. Thankfully my PSA has gone from 11 down to less than. 0.05 which is listed as undetectable.

That was the second of 2 different types of cancer that I've experienced (my first go-around was in my twenties) and lucky to say I'm a 2 time cancer survivor and, fingers crossed, I don't experience a third. Now I do whatever testing is necessary to try and remain cancer free.
My initial treatment was surgery only. That lasted one year and it came back. I have two years of hormones and daily chemo pills. I just finished 8 weeks of daily radiation. It really isn't that bad. Worst side effect is the hot flashes. I have to give it to UIHC, they seem to know what they are doing, so I only wore an ISU shirt about 10% of the time (have to poke them a little bit).

I agree that the hot flashes and the effects of testosterone blockers were a pain in the butt. It took close to 2 years after the last injection for the hot flashes to finally dissipate and testosterone levels to get slowly back to where they should be.

I also agree, the daily radiation wasn't all that bad. I did meet a number of people while waiting for my radiation sessions that were far worse than my situation where radiation was their last hope. My heart went out to them as they were still clinging on to hope.

Almost 9 years ago to the day I had my prostate removed. Gleason 18. PSA had went from 8 to 14 in 4 months. I was running for a local elected office that I really wanted, cancer changes a persons outlook and goals sometimes. The Urolology Cancer Center and Dr. Nordquist took care of me in Omaha, I was very pleased with them. They told me that I had to prove to them that It hadn't spread any where else before they would remove it. Makes sense. And the the best place at the time, was to go was the Arizona Molecular Imaging Center in Phoenix, pretty high tech stuff going on there. The cancer was proven to be only in the prostate, I had it removed and was succesful in my election bid. I went door to door campaigning with cargo shorts and a hole in the pocket for my catheter. No pads or catheters any more since about 6 months after surgery. Anyone can PM me if they have questions, I would love to ease anyones anxieties about this, just remember mine was clean, they removed it and I have been clean ever since. Prayers to anyone going thru this.

I'm glad he had the press conference. It's an important reminder to get yourself checked out if something doesn't feel right.

I'm biased because CU is my #2 team, but I like Deion. Didn't care much for his kid, but I think Coach Prime is a generally good dude and I am glad he is going to be ok.

I don’t get the dislike for him. I love the guy. Still hope we kick his ass

I don’t think the dislike is that hard to understand. I don’t dislike him personally but the coverage of his coaching career has been a farce from the start and that makes his program hard to like. That’s where 90% of it stems from I would say.

I'm glad he is using his platform to promote early detection. This could be really good if the whole conference jumps on board too.
Get checked people! Cancer is treatable if caught early!

Why is it a farce? Honestly I think he’s exceeded expectations at every opportunity.

I'm pulling for him healthwise, but I have nothing but dislike for him as a coach. I don't like the way he went into CU and disrespected their current players and encouraged so many of them to transfer. I get that he was the new coach and had the right to build the roster he wanted, but the way he did it was just classless. I don't respect the overall culture he builds with all the bling and all the trash talk and disrespect towards opposing teams. And I don't like the job he did raising his son Shiloh who appears to be just a trash human.

Really? Jackson State he had such a massive advantage over his competition due to the name draw and money at his disposal compared to other HBCUs. He did exactly what he better have done in that spot especially with Sheduer and Hunter. At Colorado he hasn’t exceed expectations. The goal posts have moved constantly to justify his results as a success. All along the way the media hype train has been all aboard and pumped a mediocre team in everyone’s face in a way that no other program would get. Also glorification of everything that is wrong about quick fix team building attempts in modern college football.

Because of my horrible kidney stone history, I see a eurologist every year and get a PSA test and pelvic X-ray. I'm always a little tense waiting for the results, but I've been blessed with good luck.

I was moaning this last time because I had to see a female eurologist. Got no sympathy from my wife whatsoever as she's been seeing a male gynecologist for years. I try to explain to her that my situation is different but she ain't buying it.

Mobs of cameras and people following him off the field and his son flashing a super expensive watch for a bad football team that really didn't do anything substantial is a farce.

I think a lot of it stemmed from the dislike for his kid. Now that he's gone I think many people will be surprised how likeable he is. He is a genuinely nice person. If you said hello to him on the street he'd give you a big smile and a hug. He's that guy.

I think the Big 12 getting 2 in the 16 isn’t that far fetched and could have happened last year in the only year we’ve seen this current 16.

The only chance for 3 involves the Deion media boner though. Imagine an undefeated b12 team loses CGG. Both are in, 12-1 in this conference was a lock even at 12 teams. Then 10-2 or even 9-3 Colorado gets in via media boner.

He had an advantage at Jackson State and rolled. Met expectations there.

Went 9-4 (7-2) in the Big 12 last year which I did not see coming. This is a program that had 1 winning season in like 20 years.

I guess I'm softening up as I age. I see a guy who's excelled like few others in college, then the NFL, and even by most standards, coaching. I have no doubt, he's faced many obstacles in life and persevered. He's leveraged his fame wherever he's been. He's brutally honest which I'd rather have than someone who sugar coats things. I guess, I just don't wish anything bad on anyone. And to hear people on this board, who've never met him, talked to him, or seen him operating, speak ill will based on propaganda, sound bits, or fabrication. Well, I guess that just defines who you are? And, even though I haven't met him, I chose the side of decency and respect first.

before his announcement, I thought it would be a bad look for him to hold a press conference saying he is good to coach this upcoming season.

I now understand why he did it. It was a good way to bring awareness and it encourages early detection and screenings.

Not only did he disrespect all of the players he inherited, but he filmed it and posted it so everyone in the free world could watch him do it.
