FWIW - i'm hearing third hand from a player, they're vibe is the BJD will not be suspended for the Iowa game.

Players have not met with Fred yet in any capacity to know exactly, just the vibe they're discussing. That said, i believe both him and Nader should be suspended for the first half. They both put themselves in a bad spot and their lucky that a technicality got BJD off.

If i were Fred - i would go to my veteran captains and ask them how they feel it should be handled. A half game suspension could go a long way in setting the example that if they stray from the rules, it will not simply be overlooked. Thats what happens when the coach loses his team….look no further then Iowa City for that example.

I must have missed the Nader part of this...

I'm 30 and I would say I still party pretty hard and don't always make the best decisions. It comes as no surprise that a 23 year old does the same thing.

It doesn't take a lot of brains to realize though that you have a neighbor, weather justified or not in their actions, likes to call the cops on you when you do party. If the statement about finding a bag of weed is a real one, then it's beyond stupid to just have that sitting out on a dresser, when you know it's likely the cops are going to show up at some point.

I will say though, I don't think it's all his fault. The way it seems to be presented in popular culture today, is it's no big deal, everyone does it. When in reality it's illegal. I'm not here to pass judgement on people who do or don't smoke weed, but for God's sake, realize it is still illegal and keep at least one or two brain cells around to at least know to hide your stash.

He should be suspended because some people on a message board say he was in a house with someone who was charged with being in a house where there was weed smoke and then that charge of being in a house with weed smoke was dropped. Personally I say just give Nader the death penalty, preferably by a painful method, not sure if his friends and family should do a 10 year lockup for associating with him.

Jackson Vroman would probably say no suspension is needed.

Not to drudge up old and painful memories, but does anyone recall the order of events with regards to Bubu's legal issues?

Was he immediately suspending? Was he immediately charged even? Was there a gap?

Not that they're comparable - but it's about the only other legal issue I can think of that Fred had to address in season.

Well, it was like 7 months after the whole thing. Then he was charged, and as soon as he was charged, he was suspended indefinitely within the first few hours of the news breaking. What makes this a bit different is the team knew he was going to be arrested (because of his warrant) before he was actually in jail, so they were able to figure out what they were going to do long before the public knew.

He was apparently there as well

Yeah. Suspended Nader because he was there when bryce got trumped up charges. Hell, I heard that georges niang plays on something called a basketball team with both of those guys. If niang knows people like that, we better just **** can the whole university.

Bryce's brother and his friend from LA smoked weed earlier while Nader and BDJ didn't. Nothing to see here

We should probably suspend at least 3/4 of college athletes too.

I've been living in LA for about 2 months now. I have accidentally smoked about 4 joints shopping for groceries. I can't tell if there is smog or weed in the air on a given day. Lots of people with a lot of back pain and lots of businesses serving the back pain community.

Way up there
What happened to Nealy? ( think?) during veisha when he was arrested for playing his care stereo too loud? I'd expect a similar response to this. The only reason any of you are coming down so hard on him is bc the words "drugs" were used. The judge ruled that he never should have been charged with that, so its essentially having a loud party that have you guys so bent out of shape. It's too tough to for some people to think after they've already decided their opinion.

Without the made up drug charge it's just a noise ordinance violation and he doesn't spend the night in jail. The cops look really really bad in this to me.
