Dekkers has only had two starts. Just lacks experience.
Once Manning gets a feel for what plays Hunter likes, and he gets a better understanding of the offense, look out.

His release is quicker. But for being taller, I'd love to see a comparison of release points between him & Brock. Hunter's probably isn't that much higher.

Post game, Dekkers said second pick was on him too.
Either he’s just being a good leader and putting it on himself or he caused the miscommunication on the route. Either way the 2nd pick didn’t have much to do with his throwing mechanics or decision making.

He will have some Brett Farve moments and throw a pick here or there from overconfidence, but I’ll take it with all of the positives. Ceiling is high.

Concerning or nothing to worry about?
If he didn’t throw 2 picks I wouldn’t even bring it up but I do think this is a topic of discussion among fans.

The throw into double coverage was a concern. It was a second down in the redzone, why take the risk

Or, they have two very similar plays, and he mixed up which one had been called.

Which is what he said happened.

I don’t expect that to happen again.

Easier to block. That said, I love his quick release. AND, I've noticed his side arm throws are quicker because he doesn't have to rotate his feet as much. And he doesn't seem to hesitate if he sees an open receiver. He pulls the trigger more quickly.
Plus it is easier on the arm!

Watched the replay on this, he clearly underestimated the Iowa DBs recovery speed. If he put a little more air under it, it’s probably a TD.

No QB is perfect and they think they will make the throw.

How many NFL starting QB's throw into double coverage? 100% and probably every game they play!!

We are 2-0 be happy. As Campbell always talks- work your craft. If Dekkers does that he will win a lot of games for the Clones.

Getting away with mistakes and still winning is a good sign imo.

His placement of the ball to the outside has looked great and it looked like he misread or under threw or both on this one.

Something that like every single QB ever has done at some point in their career or multiple times a season.

In folks mentioning route trees, I wonder if ISU's WR evolve into more choice or 'hot' routes when they just simply need to find an opening to get positive yards on a quick throw.

A couple of times yesterday that might have been better than the time taken to make set cuts to space.

Was actually curious if he added this on purpose in the offseason. I thought his motion was long and loopy last year. Was actually really excited to see this development.

Again, don’t know if any of this is accurate though. Didn’t see him much before his game action last year.

Have you watched Patric Mahomes at all? He regularly throws side-arm (as well as other rather indescribable styles of throws) rather effectively. He did it again today against AZ Cardinals in a 44-21 win.
