There was some discussion of burning a couple of O line redshirts on the telecast Saturday. Sounded like it came up in the pre-game conversations between Patrick/Tubberville and the coaches. What a tough call. Would suck to burn one with four/five games left (3 reg. +potential Dallas trip + bowl). However, if it somehow helps create a running game and helps the team get to Dallas, it may be worth it. Argument for: gives the young guys some game experience and some momentum going into next year. Argument against: we've negatively impacted young guys playing them too early.

I am all for playing these guys if it will help win some games. This has all the makings of a great season still. I would hate to get to the end of the month with 6 wins and look back at the 4 games that got away because the Clones couldn't run the ball, especially with a great RB like DM. In the end it is the coaches that have to decide if one of the freshman can help enough to make it worthwhile.

He said Ray Lima was 5'10".... Than the graphic showed his as 6'3"...... One of the major noticeable blunders, including a very one side slant anti-ISU....
He clearly mixed up Lima with the starting WVU defensive tackle. He legitimately is 5'10.

Nonetheless, he was an awful broadcaster.

That's probably the biggest challenge that we've faced the last two years. We're going from a game plan that relied on lean and agile linemen to big road graders, so the guys in the transition are kind of filling a role that they weren't necessarily recruited for.
I agree.

The OL classes that CMC is putting together have that road-grading type. Will help the running game for years to come. A look at the past 3 classes offensive linemen and their size.

Josh Knipfel (So) 6'5 317
Josh Mueller (RSFr) 6'6 309
Sean Foster (RSFr) 6'8 304
Rob Hudson (Fr) 6'6 350
Jeff Nogaj (Fr) 6'4 304
Jacob Bolton (Fr) 6'5 325
Colin Newell (Fr) 6'4 282
Alex Kleinow (Fr) 6'6 279
Zack Ross (2018) 6'3 300
Trevor Downing (2018) 6'5 290

There are several good sized, young walk-on OL on the roster as well.

We are only a few years away from a road-grading OL. (JGJ and Meeker are also only RSSo. and are 6'5 293 and 6'6 314).

I'm not one to believe that these guys come into a game with big time bias for or against. It's clear some of them prepare more thoroughly than others. Hope we get a good combination this week. Among the ESPN guys, I like Brock Huard and McElroy. It's clear they both take their jobs seriously.

It was just announced that this Saturday will be the same crew as the WVU game.

So, looks like everyone should just head to Ames for the game!
