I know Diante Garrett is a love/hate fest sort of guy. I will say that I'm not in the hate fest area but close. I see serious deficiencies in his play (i.e. things I do not like). I am going to speculate here and others can join in if you want. With Anderson - SR, 3 Year Starter and DeMarcus Phillips - JR, Stud - both coming in next year, I see the potential where DG could see dramatically reduced PT. You could even see DG sit while Bubu, a walk on, sees serious minutes. You heard it here first.

Frankly what I would like to see is Freddy have the balls that MacD did not have and if DG dribbles the ball off his foot or tries a friggen finger roll that misses or gets swatted away .... "with the game on the line", that DG has somebody get in his face and sit his ***** on the bench until he learns how to finish out a game. And Anderson (or Phillips or Bubu) will play PG at the end of the games until DG "gets it". Yeah, I know lots of people around here think highly of DG but this is my opinion ... flame away if you must, but I think DG's PT just got in serious jeopardy.

I understand what you're saying, but you could've said it in a much more classy of manner. I don't completely agree with it either. We didn't exactly have an All-American back-up PG last year, so McD had his hands tied quite a bit.

Garrett's really not that bad. Give the kid a chance.

After the press conference didn't Hoiberg basically say he really likes what Garrett can do? I don't think his time is going to be cut, I look for him to be very good this year.

You must have missed how much Fred has talked about DG, and how huge DG is going to be to our offense. DG is going to like the wide open, up tempo offense, that Fred is going to run. He is more suited for that then Gmac's half court offense. I am sure Fred is working with DG on his shot and finishing at the hoop. DG did improve his shot last year, and I look forward to seeing it improve more. I don't see DG losing many min at all to anybody. I am happy we picked up Anderson to back him up, but make no mistake about it DG is the heart and soul of this team.

So DG, who averaged 9.4 ppg and 5.1 apg for a Big 12 school is going to sit for a guy who averaged 10.6 ppg and 3.5 apg for a MAC team? I doubt it. DG's playing time will go down only because (hopefully) we'll have more warm, healthy bodies to give him a breather.

I think DG will flourish in the up-tempo system that coach Hoiberg plans to install. Looks like he will be surrounded by some quality guards.

I'll be shocked if DG doesn't play 30+ minutes per game. He's been through the b12 battles more than anyone on our team, and that counts for a lot. He finally has help - two guys (and maybe 3 if bubu is decent) that can handle the ball against pressure and breakdown the defense.

I knew this was gonna be controversal that's why I said that DG brings out a love/hate mentality. So far, lots of love. Someone else here awhile back looked at all the games down the stretch that we were "in" at the end. I think it was either we were ahead or within 5 points with 5 minutes to go. In other words "finishing time". DG's record running the point in those games? 1 win 12 losses. I'm just recalling what I remember, guess I could dig up a link but wanna get this posted.

DG haters need to start watching the freaking games. He was without question the leader of the team last year, and he won some games single-handedly. His mistakes are minimal. I don't think any DG hater really has a valid point. Its frustrating seeing thread about him popping up, and criticizing him. He should be praised for sticking it out through all the **** thats gone on with this program, not be pushed out by a fan-base for an uknown transfer.

I think Bubu is the next Bo Williams without the incoming hype.

Can people please let him play in a game before claiming he's going to unseat one of the Big 12 assist leaders? Some of you are ridiculous.

I just wish DG would push the ball to the basket more often. He really created some problems when he got aggressive and drove to the bucket.

Rickybaby, I've got $100 says DG plays 28+ minutes/game next year barring injury.

Sorry, but DG will go down as the least-memorable four-year starter is ISU history. I appreciate that he is the first person to stick around for four years in quite a while, but will not be sad when his playing days at ISU are done.

I agree. Sitting your most experienced player who happens to be your leading returning scorer is typically the best course of action. No sense in him rubbing off on the younger players.
