Didn't know Fred was still the coach

Did u watch senior night? The records Niang had. Those type of players... (people!) Don't grow on trees. Fred brought them here. They are great cyclones! I don't take what fred did for granted. It was truly a remarkable era of cyclone basketball. Just sad to see it ending.

I will give you Niang obviously. Ejim for sure. Plus Morris, Naz and others. No doubt. But the ultimate results are nothing we can't continue. And I believe CSP players will be more consistently good guys off the court.

Prohm has a better recruiting class this year than any of Fred's. That's just a fact. The mid year transfers and such make things a little fuzzy. It also is yet to be determined how they pan out. However, to say that he can't sustain it is ludicrous.

The only remarkable thing here is that your level of selective memory.

Dang, tough crowd around here tonight. I know I'm not the only one that was a little choked up when Niang was out there. Here's to hoping Prohm wins back to back tourny titles and breaks Fred record for most wins in 4 years. Go cyclones

I'm not sure how everyone being sad Niang played his last game has anything to do with Prohms success. He wasn't even a highly ranked recruit, how do you know Prohm can't get a quality player? Didn't he put more guys in the NBA at Murray St. than Fred did here? Don't you think it would be easier for Prohm to recruit/develop at Iowa State than it was at Murray St?

Are you trolling or just plain stupid?

It's more than that, though. Look at the quality of player Fred brought in. Quality on and off the court. There's just NO WAY Prohm can duplicate the past 4 years. Iowa State basketball was so much fun. It'll never be the same.

Little pity party for your Friday night? Sounds like your estrogen is a little high.

I like having a professional college basketball coach in the floor that is involved in the entire lives of his student-athletes. Fred wasn't even our best ex-coach.

Sorry to be such a downer. No,I don't think I have a selective memory. We've had a great run these past 5 years. It's just going to be next to impossible for Prohm to sustain.

I HOPE he doesn't sustain first round losses to UAB or ******* conference titles away or letting the players practice and defend only when THEY want to. CSP is here to make this program better than Fred left it.

I might agree that it will be tough to match the excitement and potential.

Results can be duplicated with good coaching and recruiting, as Fred left a foundation.

Prohm will build off of Fred, and be MORE successful. Fred built a great team here, and underachieved with it. Hell look at what he's doing with the great Bulls team he took over. Don't get me wrong I loved Fred and would welcome him back in the future if he were available and Prohm is no longer here for whatever reason, but don't act like he's done something here that's impossible for others to do.

... being "a little choked up when Niang was out there" doesn't mean what you're saying.

I was choked up when Niang was out there. He was a really great player, and a really great guy. One of my favorite all time. Especially in an era where so few college players, especially players at his level, either go early or transfer in/out from a program. 4 year players of high high quality are rare.

However, being choked up over Niang playing his last game at Hilton doesn't mean that I'm depressed over Fred leaving. Even if I was depressed over Fred leaving, Niang's last game would have nothing to do with it. Loving Niang doesn't mean I have to pretend that no coach can ever find a player like Georges again. Being chocked up over Niang's last game doesn't mean that I'm giving up on the future of the program or condemning our program to mediocrity in the future.

Niang is a great player. I'm glad we had him. Fred got him for us.

This doesn't mean that Prohm can't find us very good players in the future.

No one will ever be Georges Niang again. But we'll have good players. And we'll have success.

Get off the ledge, and stop putting your Fred-nostalgia into the mouths of everyone who cares about Georges.

I live in Chicago and they're ready to tar and feather Fred here. Last week the Bulls D gave up the highest shooting percentage for an opponent
in Bulls history.
Love Fred and what he did for the program, but it's the right time for coach Prohm.

Isn't MT, Fred's highest ranked recruit? I loved Niang and Morris, but doesn't Prohm already have similar caliber recruits from HS, JUCO, and now a grad transfer? Will they be homeruns, will the staff be able to develop them? Lets wait and see. We will be fine. My bet is we will sustain a deeper bench than in the past too.

Prohm brought in a very highly touted JUCO that had offers from Arizona and Kansas, another JUCO that was fairly highly touted as well, and 2 high school players that I think are going to be very solid players for Iowa State for the next 4 years. I'd say Prohm did a fantastic job recruiting in the short time he had to do it.

Lol...the Fred era will go down as a lot of fun, but ultimately known for its unrealized potential. We have had unprecedented sustained success, but the highs during the Eustachy era eclipsed Fred by a mile. If you think the Fred era is the best ISU can achieve you have a very low opinion of ISU.

Oh my, are just a few of us old enough to remember the 2000 team? Loved watching the clips the AD put up of the highlights of their win at AFH.

Do not tell yourself that. It's not true. CSP CAN meet and even exceed what CFH did for us. As amazing as he was, he was/is not God. Just a very, very good man and good coach. So is CSP. Give it time.

In LE's 4th year we went 12-19, in his 5th year we went 17-14. He won a total of 3 NCAA tournament games in 5 years. Yes he did have 2 great years that were fun to watch. He has done basically nothing since he left here.
