So happy for Q and Lanning on that play.

I have generally been a big CPR fan until the past 18 months or so but either Paul or his coaches have just been completely brain dead on the offensive side of the ball these past few years that we can't get the ball in the end zone more consistently.

This is correct. This happens every time a new qb comes in and gives some hope. In all actuality he will be mentally destroyed by the coaching staff. We've seen this story before.

They will probably hammer him all week about each little mistake and not build off of any of the positives.

I agree. I doubt we'll win too many more games this season if any, but I really like what I saw out of Lanning.

At least he has been a bright spot on a dreary day. A reason for hope again especially when he gets it out of his hand rather than take a sack.

A full week of reps will certainly help but he threw the ball well.

JL - 12/17 144 yds 3 TD 0 INT
SR - 3/11 12 yds 0 TD 2 INT

Would have been nice to have a redo on the first half.

Liked what I saw today, amazing what happens when the offense can sustain drives and move the ball and then all the sudden the defense gets some stops. Lanning brings another dimension with his running ability and if he can consistently complete passes the offense can be effective on Saturday against the Horns.

Lanning with Bill Snyder based offense around him is all I keep thinking.

It does. Different mindset, and it looks like a different confidence level. Simpler is sometimes better, and Lanning makes the simple plays.

Announcers kept saying he has such a small playbook and it leads me to 2 conclusions...

1 - the existing playbook is and has been too damn big for SR.

2 - the coaches have failed to develop Lanning over 2.5 years to the point of not being able to give him a bigger playbook.

If Sam walks out to start game next week u will hear boos like you haven't heard in a Jack trice and I'm not a booer.

I was one of the people who always thought we needed the uptempo quick pass offense. I was wrong. The way for ISU to win in this conference is to have an aggressive but ball control focused offense. Lanning is the perfect type of QB for us if that's our goal and you can get kids like him or a similar Austin Arnaud locally. Both of those guys were an extra tank RB in the backfield. I wouldn't expect our QBs to consistently throw 70-85% like JL has early but just the added dimension of a physical runner is what we need.

Seeing JL play is the only reason I'm going to the game. If SR starts CPR won't have to worry about getting fired bc the mob will literally tear him apart.

SR is done for the season. He needs some time off.

With our lethal receivers, I think Mangina and Rhoads think we need to be a pass first team. Which hurts Sam and would hurt Lanning as well.

With Lanning in there, it really improves our run game, which opens up our passing game for our threats.
