He will need to be with Hodge not working out. I can see Lannning being the guy next year but As we all know with ISU qbs, we beat them up.

I don't mean to sound like a negative nancy but we have been speculating about our next special quarterback for a decade. Until I see a special QB on the field playing a ranked opponent I am not anointing anyone.

By "the guy", do you mean the guy 3rd on the depth chart?

Too bad because the guy 3rd on the depth chart in 2014 won't be passing the guy who won the starting job in the fall the last two years.

You're ******* nuts if you think Sam isn't the starter next year.

Kind of interesting to look at the comparison of total yards (passing plus running) during their senior year of high school. Included Hodge even though he is not on the team.

Hodge 4256
Lanning 3384
Richardson 3332
Rohach 2344
Lee-Campbell 1621

You are right, I am an idiot. For some reason I was thinking it was Sam's last year lol. My appologies.

I blind comparison without taking into consideration how good their team is, their opponents, conference strength, amount of games and style of play really isn't fair. Just ask Rob Standard if total yards put you on the field.

I think Darius plays a little too tall, and needs to work on his release, specifically his speed of release. I haven't seen him perform under pressure, so I'm not sure about his pocket presence and decision making. I think he will have to wait two years to see if he can make it on the field. Maybe longer. We will have Rohach as a senior then.

I agree Sam is not the only problem but he is one of many. Sam doesn't play bad but do you really think he's a guy we can lean on. NO. I've seen to many 3 incomplete passes and then it's punt team time this year. So like I said earlier, hopefully DLC can make his way up the depth chart.

For ISU to really compete in the Big 12, we need to have a QB who is exceptional to balance the rest of the 1-3 star players on the team. Sam is OK, but we almost have to have a Senaca type talent if we are to go .500 or better. That's what we are waiting for. We were hoping Steele would be that guy, then Sam. Now were hoping Darius can be. There's always hope.

I really like SR, he does a lot of things right. Unfortunately, he has a few holes in his game, primarily short passes and deep passes. For some reason he is very good at the intermediate passes. The best bet for ISU is that he improves even more next year. He has pretty good wheels and that is a necessity with the way ISU blocks, or doesn't block.
