OOOHHH how I love to see the ole Base 36 pitch, then base 35 pitch, then base 36 pitch, then throw in a base 36 counter, maybe even a 36 or 35 reverse. then when the defense is all crammed in the box....run a boot pass. Classic!!!

Herm Edwards sat next to me on the way in from Detroit this morning. Very nice guy. Seemed genuinely interested and excited about being here for the game.

A lot of wing T offenses are called "base" formation. (much easier to say in a play call.)

the running backs on both sides by the tight ends usually get numbers, and to make it easier they have the same number (3) thats what we used when I played.

the 5 and 6 are the holes between the linemen. E T G C G T E.

The right side of the center between the guard is the 2 hole, between the guard and tackle is the 4 hole and between the tackle adn end is the 6 hole. and it goes 1 3 5 on the left side.

so when 36 pitch is run you will see both guard and tackle on the left side pull and lead up the hole. the full back will kick out the DE and C, G, T, and E on the right side will double down as needed and try to push the line back into the linebackers.

The counter is when the qb fakes the pitch and then pivits inside and hands the ball to the rb towards the line.

It just brought back old memories, and that is how we broke down the wing T when I played. AP could use different numbers but it is most likely the same or really close to the same.

4 picks, I do feel bad for the qb from DNH, throwing four interceptions on national TV.

Too much Hawkeye talk on this broadcast. Kirk having his time. Assistant coach being a Hawk fan. Sounds like there is only one school in the state. I hate ESPN...

Too true ......but I'm still glad they showed this game tonight.
Its not about who is a fan of who....Its goes much deeper,IMO.

I watched most of the broadcast, but not all of it.....did they ever mention that ISU took players to Parkersburg last year to help clean up after the tornado also?

They did mention it ....for about 2 seconds after the praise about The hawks and all the local high schools.
